Deadline for Enrollment in the Agreement Ends on November 14; More Than 4.7 Million Retirees Can Still Request a Free Refund
The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) has reiterated the warning for retirees and pensioners to check if they have suffered unauthorized deductions from benefits and have not yet requested reimbursement. The final deadline for enrollment in the refund agreement is November 14, and participation is completely free, with no need to submit additional documents.
According to the most recent report presented to the National Social Security Council (CNPS), about 70% of affected policyholders have already accepted the reimbursement. This represents 3.4 million retirees and pensioners who had their amounts refunded, totaling R$ 2.3 billion paid since July, with inflation adjustment.
The Origin of Deductions and the Impact on Retirees
The unauthorized deductions were made by associations and entities that applied charges without the authorization of the beneficiaries.

Asphalt plant in Brazil bought for R$ 900,000 with a promise to reduce costs never operated, remained idle under tarps for four years, and was eventually auctioned for R$ 851,000 to a businessman with a R$ 16.5 million contract with the city hall.
The situation particularly affected retirees with compromised borrowing margins, leading to accumulated losses since before the Covid-19 pandemic.
The refund of amounts began on July 24, and the process has been conducted in a staggered manner.
Each retiree receives the amount corresponding to the corrected unauthorized deductions, which restores part of the purchasing power lost over the years.
The goal of the INSS is to complete the payment of all enrolled cases by the end of the year.
How to Request Reimbursement Simply
The enrollment in the agreement can be done in three ways: through the Meu INSS app, by phone 135, or directly at the Post Office agencies.
In all channels, the process is free and does not require the submission of receipts, only confirming the information and accepting the refund term.
The INSS emphasizes that there is no need to resort to intermediaries. All official procedures are handled through institutional channels.
The recommendation is that retirees check their benefit accounts to see if there were atypical deductions and, if so, follow the steps to receive the amount back.
Possibility of Extension and Next Steps
Although the November 14 deadline is maintained, there is a possibility of extension if the number of enrollments increases in the last days.
The INSS stated that it is considering extending the period to ensure that all affected retirees have time to request the refund.
So far, the program is considered one of the largest financial correction actions ever undertaken by the institute.
With R$ 2.3 billion already paid, the focus now is to reach the remaining 30% who have not yet formalized their request.
