The PROFEI not only aims to train professionals but also seeks to directly impact the quality of education in municipal, state, and federal schools.
What Is PROFEI and How Does It Work?
The Professional Master’s in Inclusive Education, known as PROFEI, was created to provide training to teachers in basic education working in public schools.
The course has a clear focus: to prepare these professionals to improve the quality of education, especially for students who need specialized support, such as those with disabilities or in vulnerable situations.
With a robust and nationwide structure, PROFEI brings together 23 higher education institutions, including the Federal Institute of Ceará (IFCE), which recently announced its participation in the program, offering 20 spots.
This move reinforces IFCE’s commitment to educational inclusion, something that the vice-coordinator of PROFEI at IFCE, Professor Igor de Moraes Paim, highlighted in his speech: “we know that this master’s program inaugurates a new era at the Federal Institute of Ceará because it meets an ethical sense of purpose aimed at caring, in a qualified manner, for those who need it most.”
Selection Stages at the Federal Institute
The selection process will be divided into four phases, according to the public notice. The first stage consists of the approval of applications, followed by the analysis of documents.
Subsequently, each candidate’s research proposal will be evaluated, and finally, there will be an interview. For more details, it is important to check the complete public notice available on the mentioned website.
An interesting feature of PROFEI is its hybrid teaching structure.
This means that the course combines in-person and distance learning, with synchronous and asynchronous meetings, in addition to in-person guidance that will be scheduled by the advisors from each institution.
This flexibility allows students from different regions of the country to participate without compromising their work routines.
An Inclusive and Innovative Opportunity
In addition to the wide competition, the program reserves spots for quotas, aimed at candidates who identify as Black, Brown, Indigenous, or People with Disabilities.
This demonstrates PROFEI’s commitment to ensuring inclusion at all levels of the educational process, both in the classroom and in the training of professionals.
For those who want to delve into the program and follow all stages of the selection process, the Federal Institute of Ceará provides a link to the full public notice: https://www.fct.unesp.br/#!/pos-graduacao/educacao-inclusiva/processo-seletivo6680/processo-seletivo-2025/.
And Education in Brazil?
Initiatives like this have a direct impact on the Brazilian educational landscape.
With PROFEI, it is expected that more and more teachers will be prepared to face the challenges of an inclusive classroom, ensuring that all students, regardless of their circumstances, have access to quality education. But what does the future hold for inclusive education in Brazil?
Who Can Apply?
Those interested in participating in this selection process must have a bachelor’s degree in education and be working as teachers in public schools.
Applications are open from October 21 to November 7 and can be made directly on the official selection process page: https://seletivo.profei.com.br/. The application fee is R$ 110.00.
