Families registered in the Cadastro Único can access rights that reduce expenses, expand opportunities, and facilitate the use of essential services.
The Cadastro Único for Social Programs, known as CadÚnico, represents the main gateway for different initiatives aimed at low-income families.
Millions of Brazilians associate the registration only with Bolsa Família. However, at least seven lesser-known benefits can also be accessed by those who meet the established criteria.
The lack of information, digital difficulties, and insufficient dissemination prevent many of these rights from reaching the interested public.

ID Jovem offers tickets and access to culture
The ID Jovem serves people aged 15 to 29 registered in the CadÚnico and meeting the program’s rules.
The document allows requesting free seats or discounted tickets on interstate public transportation.
The initiative also guarantees half-price entry to cultural, sports, and leisure events, including cinemas.
The benefit was regulated by Decree No. 8,537, of October 5, 2015, according to information from the Federal Government.
Senior Citizen Card reduces travel costs
The Senior Citizen Card also facilitates access to interstate public transportation.
The document ensures two free seats per vehicle or a minimum discount of 50% when reserved seats are already occupied.
The guarantee is provided in the Statute of the Elderly, established by Law No. 10,741, of October 1, 2003.
Elderly people without formal income proof can use the card to demonstrate that they meet the benefit’s requirements.

Families living in vulnerable regions find in the program an alternative to improve water security.

The Believe in the First Step aims to increase income generation and financial autonomy for families registered in CadÚnico.
Launched by the Federal Government on April 22, 2024, the initiative combines professional qualification, entrepreneurship, employment, and microcredit.
Small businesses can receive training, guidance, and access to financing to develop their activities.
The proposal seeks to strengthen economic opportunities without limiting government action to direct income transfer.

Exemption eliminates fees for Enem and contests
Registration in CadÚnico can also facilitate the request for exemption from the Enem fee and certain public contests.
Notices and registration processes usually use the registry as a means of proving low-income status.
The measure reduces a financial barrier for people interested in entering higher education or public service.
Each process has its own rules and deadlines. Therefore, the candidate needs to consult the requirements presented in the corresponding notice.
Social Tariff can reduce the energy bill
The Social Electricity Tariff is among the benefits with the greatest direct impact on the household budget.
Created by Law No. 10,438, of April 26, 2002, the program grants discounts according to the monthly consumption of the residence.
The discount can reach up to 65% in the ranges provided by the traditional tariff rules, according to the conditions applicable to the beneficiary.
Families that meet the requirements can receive the discount on their electricity bill, provided that the data is correct and up-to-date.
Information still separates families from their rights
The existence of the programs alone does not guarantee that the benefits will be used by all eligible people.
Lack of information keeps passes, discounts, microcredit, cisterns, and exemptions out of reach for many families.
Internet access difficulties and problems with updating registration also hinder entry into the programs.
Registration in CadÚnico represents only the first step. Effective access depends on knowledge of the rules, deadlines, and official channels.
