Evaluation of the Commander Longitude 2026, Now with ACC, Reveals Jeep’s New Strategy Thanks to Competition; See Chief Car Analysis
The new Jeep Commander 2026 has hit the market with an aggressive change: the price has dropped. The base version Longitude, now equipped with adaptive cruise control (ACC), is being offered for R$ 199,999, a promotional price that places it on a direct collision course with its biggest rival, the Caoa Chery Tiggo 8.
This update, which includes a slight facelift, also brought changes under the hood, with the 1.3 Turbo engine losing power due to the new Proconve L8 regulations. In a detailed evaluation, the channel Chief Car analyzed whether Jeep’s seven-seat SUV, now cheaper, became more attractive than the Chinese competition.
The “Tiggo 8 Effect”: How Competition Changed the Commander

The main news about the Commander 2026 is the repositioning of its price. As highlighted by Chief Car, the price of R$ 220,000 for the Longitude version has been reduced to a promotional price of R$ 199,999, or R$ 200 thousand. A significant reduction that changes the landscape of seven-seat SUVs in Brazil.

Ducati brings to Brazil the Superleggera V4 Centenario: 228 hp that become 247 with a track kit, carbon fiber and carbon-ceramic brakes, estimated price between R$ 1.5 and 2 million, deliveries only in 2027.
The reason for this abrupt drop is clear: competition. Chief Car points directly to the Caoa Chery Tiggo 8, with prices hovering around R$ 195 thousand, forcing Jeep to act. “You may not like Chinese cars, but competition helps us,” commented the evaluator. For those seeking seven seats, the fight is now direct, with almost no price difference.
1.3 Turbo Engine: Fewer Horses, Same Torque
Not all changes were additions. The 1.3 Turbo (T270) engine of the Commander underwent an adjustment to meet Proconve L8 (PL8), the emissions control program. According to Chief Car, the SUV lost power, dropping to 176 horsepower.
Despite the decrease in horsepower, the torque, which is crucial for a heavy SUV weighing 1,668 kg, was maintained at 27.5 kgf.m at 1,750 RPM. The transmission remains a six-speed automatic. In tests conducted by Chief Car, the 0 to 100 km/h was clocked at 9.5 seconds, a time considered “sufficient” and “OK” for the family-oriented proposal of the vehicle, which does not focus on sportiness in this version.
What the Commander Longitude 2026 Gained (and What It Still Needs)

To compensate for the less powerful engine and compete directly with the Tiggo 8, Jeep packed the Commander Longitude. The base version now comes standard with adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane keep assist, and automatic high beams. These are cutting-edge technology features that were not previously available in this configuration.
However, the source Chief Car highlights that the Tiggo 8 still has an advantage in two key points: the panoramic sunroof and the 360-degree camera system. The Commander 2026 only offers a rearview camera, although it does have an automatic parking system (Park Assist). The evaluator emphasizes that, for the price, the lack of a sunroof is the main area where the Chinese rival still excels.
Interior Space and Finishing
As a seven-seat SUV, space is a differentiator. The trunk varies from 233 liters (with seven seats in use) to 661 liters (with five seats). The evaluation by Chief Car highlighted that the third row is functional for short trips or children, being more spacious than that of a Mitsubishi Outlander, for example.
The finishing of the Longitude version also underwent changes. Chief Car noted that the suede (or Alcantara) that covered part of the dashboard in previous models has been removed, leaving only a strip of leather and more plastic. Nonetheless, the interior is praised for the comfort of the seats, for the complete digital cluster, and for the multimedia center with native GPS and wireless mirroring.
The evaluation by Chief Car concludes that, with the promotional price, this 1.3 Turbo version has become the most interesting of the Commander for those seeking value for money and needing seven seats, even being the “calmest one.” Jeep proves that it is attentive to the competition, and the winner is the consumer.
