Registration of the new generation of the Jeep Cherokee in Brazil reinforces Stellantis’ progress in hybrids and rekindles expectations for the return of a larger, more efficient, and technologically updated SUV, equipped with a new global platform, electrified powertrain, and range exceeding 800 kilometers.
Jeep has advanced in the industrial protection process of the new generation of the Cherokee in Brazil, a move that rekindles the possibility of the SUV’s return to the national market with a more sophisticated proposal, electrified hybrid set, and dimensions larger than those of the Compass.
Although the registration with the National Institute of Industrial Property does not represent official confirmation of launch, the initiative indicates that the manufacturer is following the growth of the hybrid segment and keeps the utility vehicle under evaluation for possible future commercialization.
With a declared range above 800 kilometers and an unprecedented global architecture in the line, the new Cherokee emerges as one of Jeep’s most modern bets outside the United States, especially in markets that have started to demand more efficient and technological models.

New Jeep Cherokee appears on the Brazilian radar
After a few years out of line in certain markets, the Cherokee returns with a completely renewed visual identity and a higher positioning within Jeep’s range, targeting consumers seeking more space, refinement, and technological features.

In the records filed by the manufacturer, the SUV appears practically identical to the model revealed abroad, with a front marked by narrow headlights, a reinterpreted seven-slot grille, and more vertical lines to reinforce the robust aspect.
At the rear, the horizontal optical set and the enlarged proportions help differentiate the utility vehicle from the Compass, while the more robust body brings the model closer to SUVs traditionally positioned in higher categories.
Even with the formalization of the request at INPI, Jeep still avoids confirming importation or launch in Brazil, a relatively common scenario among automakers that register industrial designs before defining definitive commercial strategies.
STLA Large platform expands space and technology
Developed on the STLA Large platform, the 2026 Cherokee now uses one of Stellantis’ most recent global architectures, created precisely to accommodate larger vehicles and prepared for different levels of electrification.
Thanks to this base, the SUV gained more generous dimensions and enhanced structural capacity, allowing for more interior space, technological evolution, and a more refined proposal compared to previous generations marketed by the brand.

The dimensions have also grown significantly, as the model is about 4.77 meters long, 1.89 meters wide without mirrors, 1.71 meters high, and has a wheelbase of 2.87 meters.
With this setup, the utility vehicle now occupies a segment above the Compass within the Jeep lineup and approaches models aimed at consumers interested in more comfort, visual presence, and space for family trips.
1.6 Turbo Hybrid Engine Delivers 213 hp
Among the main technical highlights of the new Cherokee is the full hybrid system without external charging, a solution that combines energy efficiency with practicality for drivers who do not wish to rely on electric chargers.
The system combines a 1.6 turbo four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, an electrified continuously variable transmission, and a compact 1.08 kWh battery responsible for powering the electrical part of the system.
According to data released by Jeep in the North American market, the configuration delivers 210 hp, equivalent to approximately 213 hp in the Brazilian standard, in addition to an estimated torque of 31.8 kgfm.

With this mechanical setup, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h in 8.3 seconds, while the battery is automatically recharged by the combustion engine and the regenerative braking system present during deceleration.
Range Exceeds 800 km with Hybrid System
According to Jeep, the new Cherokee exceeds 500 miles of range on a single tank, a mark that represents more than 800 kilometers within the measurement cycle used in the United States.
The combined consumption disclosed by the manufacturer reaches approximately 15.7 km/l, a relevant index for a medium-large SUV equipped with hybrid engine technology aimed at family and road use.
If the model is eventually approved for the Brazilian market, the numbers may change, as Inmetro adopts its own criteria for measuring energy efficiency and fuel consumption.
Even so, Jeep’s strategy makes it clear that electrification is becoming central to the development of the Cherokee line, without giving up features such as interior space, comfort, and capacity for long trips.
Jeep has not yet confirmed launch in Brazil

Even with the registration already formalized in Brazil, Jeep has not yet announced details about versions, prices, launch schedule, or any commercial strategy related to the return of the Cherokee to the national market.
The possible arrival of the SUV, however, would make sense within a range that recently lost the Grand Cherokee 4xe and now has a space above the Compass and the Commander for more sophisticated models.
In this scenario, the Cherokee could assume the role of an intermediate utility vehicle aimed at consumers interested in greater refinement, electrification, and larger dimensions, but without advancing into more expensive luxury segments.
The historical weight of the name also helps explain the model’s relevance in the country, as the Cherokee family played an important role in consolidating Jeep’s image among consumers connected to imported SUVs and vehicles with a more premium proposal.
For now, the most concrete move remains just the protection of the industrial design, while the manufacturer monitors factors such as market demand, economic scenario, import rules, and the growth of demand for hybrid vehicles in Brazil.
