GM Will Loan Four Chevrolet Blazer EV Electric Cars to Lula and Alckmin for One Year, with Charging Infrastructure Installed by WEG at the Planalto Palace.
Electric Mobility has officially arrived at the top of the federal government. It was reported this Friday, 09/19, that General Motors (GM) will loan four Chevrolet Blazer EV electric cars to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Vice President Geraldo Alckmin.
The agreement, made on a loan basis, also includes the installation of charging infrastructure at the Planalto Palace, carried out by the Brazilian company WEG. The initiative reinforces the strategy of decarbonizing the official fleet and marks another step in encouraging the use of clean energy in the country.
How the Vehicles Will Be Used
The cars loaned will be used for official commitments of the president and vice president for one year. The loan, at no cost, may be renewed, covering both the vehicles and the chargers. According to GM, the measure reinforces the automaker’s commitment to increasing the presence of electric vehicles in Brazil and contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions in strategic sectors, including the government.

To enable the use of the vehicles, WEG implemented two conventional (AC) chargers and one fast (DC) charger at the Planalto Palace. This infrastructure ensures practicality and efficiency in daily use, allowing the cars to always be ready for official travel. Furthermore, the DC charger enables faster recharges, a necessity in intense routines like those of the federal Executive.
Blazer EV: Power and Technology
The Chevrolet Blazer EV is an SUV that stands out for its performance and technology. With a range of up to 481 km, according to data from Inmetro, the model delivers 347 hp of power and 44.9 kgfm of torque. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 5.8 seconds, rivaling combustion sports cars.
In terms of charging, the vehicle accepts up to 190 kW of direct current (DC), allowing it to reach 80% charge in about 40 minutes. On alternating current (AC), the limit is 22 kW.
In design, the Blazer EV bets on sporty lines, 21-inch wheels, striking creases, and distinctive lighting, highlighted by the illuminated front bar and rear lights in a “Y” shape. The interior is another attraction: high-quality finishes, heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, premium sound system, and ample space, especially in the rear seat, in addition to a trunk capacity of 436 liters.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time electric vehicles have been incorporated into the official fleet. In February, BYD also signed a loan agreement, providing two electric cars for the Presidency of the Republic and another 20 for the Superior Court of Justice (STJ). The contract, valid until January next year, is part of a growing movement of rapprochement between the government and automakers to promote electric mobility in the country.
