Stellantis considers producing cars from the Chinese company Dongfeng at a factory in Brazil and may boost a new phase for compacts, pickups, and SUVs.
The commercial strategy was presented under the slogan “In China, For China, For The World”, indicating the brand’s intention to take the pickup to markets outside of China.
Pre-Sales And Global Positioning
According to Zhengzhou Nissan, reservations started on October 30, with prices ranging from 176,900 to 249,900 yuan, depending on the version and equipment.
The project is considered by the company to be the first electrified pickup fully developed in China with a focus also on exports.

Industry experts point out that this move reinforces the trend of expanding hybrid and electric pickups in emerging markets, especially in light of emission reduction targets imposed by Asian and European governments.
Platform And Hybrid Powertrain
While maintaining the name Frontier, the vehicle is based on the architecture of the Dongfeng Z9, with adaptations made by Nissan’s engineering team.
The hybrid system uses a DHT automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.
The brand has revealed that the pickup is equipped with 18-inch wheels, independent double-wishbone front suspension, and five-link rear axle suspension, in addition to an electromechanical locking rear differential — features designed to provide better stability and performance off-road.
Performance And Extended Range
Nissan reports that the combined power exceeds 300 kW and the maximum torque reaches 800 Nm, equivalent to about 415 hp and 81.6 kgfm, respectively.
In electric mode, the vehicle travels up to 136 km according to Chinese NEDC/CLTC cycles.

The total range, combining the use of the combustion engine, exceeds 1,000 km, according to preliminary data from the manufacturer.
Technological Interior And Differentiated Finishing
The interior follows the standard presented at the Shanghai Auto Show, with a 10-inch digital dashboard and a 14.6-inch multimedia center.
The cabin features leather upholstery and offers amenities such as heated, ventilated seats with massage function.
The model also features a V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) system, which allows the use of battery energy to power external equipment, with a power output of up to 6 kW.
The interior design, according to the manufacturer, aims to bring the pickup closer to the comfort standards of passenger electric vehicles, focusing on embedded technology and higher quality materials.
Dimensions And Exterior Design

The Frontier Pro measures 5.52 meters in length, 1.96 m in width, 1.95 m in height and has a 3.30 m wheelbase.
At the front, the model features a LED strip connecting the headlights and highlighting the illuminated Nissan emblem.
The rear features vertical taillights and a light strip that cuts across the tailgate.
According to industry analysts, the design indicates a transition to the new visual standard of the brand in large vehicles, aligned with the style seen in recent electric SUVs.
Versions And Global Production
The Chinese lineup includes gasoline, diesel, and plug-in hybrid versions, totaling six configurations.
Nissan claims this is the first electrified pickup in its history and part of a global strategy to diversify its portfolio in higher volume segments.
Status Of The Frontier In Brazil
In Brazil, the production of the Frontier in Argentina was halted in October, following Nissan’s corporate decision to reorganize its operations in the region.

The brand confirmed that the pickup will be imported from Mexico starting in 2026.
Automotive industry sources explain that this change may limit the number of units sent to the country due to tariff-free import quotas, currently divided between the Versa and Sentra models.
The company has not yet reported whether the plug-in hybrid version will be offered in the Brazilian market.
Nissan’s Strategy And Identity
In several countries, the pickup is sold under the name Navara, but Nissan chose to keep the name Frontier to strengthen the global identity of the product.
The company emphasizes that the development done in China adheres to international quality standards and that the model will be evaluated for export based on demand.

Pending Technical Data
The brand has not disclosed details such as exact battery capacity, total weight, and consumption values in WLTP or EPA cycles, used in markets outside of China.
These figures are expected to be officially presented at the start of sales.
Experts note that, as this is a global launch, some specifications may vary according to the legislation and efficiency testing of each country.
With extended range, hybrid powertrain, and focus on international expansion, the Nissan Frontier Pro PHEV enters the group of pickups that seek to combine performance and energy efficiency.
It remains to be seen when and in which markets the electrified version will be officially made available outside of Asia.
