With investments in pulp production, Mato Grosso do Sul has two large companies and the State Government to stand out internationally in the industrial area
In Mato Grosso do Sul, pulp production grew when Suzano settled in the state. Considered one of the largest paper mills, Suzano was installed in Três Lagoas in 2009 – at the time called Fibria – with a production capacity of around 1,3 million tons of pulp per year. But in 2012, the company Eldorado Brasil started operating in Mato Grosso do Sul, with a production capacity of 1,7 million tons of pulp. Eldorado Brasil has a manufacturing unit in Três Lagoas and has more than 200 hectares of planted forests in Mato Grosso do Sul, with around 5,2 employees, in addition to providing more than 150 jobs for immediate start.

Suzano's expansion strategies and new investments
Suzano, in turn, recently announced that it will install a new factory in Ribas do Rio Pardo. According to the pulp production giant, the future venture, which already totals around BRL 14,7 billion in investments, is considered one of the largest private projects underway in Brazil and, when completed, will be the largest unit factory in terms of pulp production in the world.
Baptized 'Cerrado Project', the unit is expected to become a reference due to its strategic geographic location in Mato Grosso do Sul, in addition to having the capacity to expand its pulp production by approximately 20%.

Preserving the environment and creating jobs
Suzano's new venture estimates that around 10 direct jobs will be generated during the construction of the factory, in addition to another 3 jobs that will emerge at the end of the works, where outsourced employees and own workers will be hired with the aim of moving the economic chain Of region.
In addition, Suzano's new plant will contribute to increasing the distribution and generation of renewable energy in Brazil and, consequently, will be the first plant in the pulp and paper sector in the country free of the use of fossil fuels, promoting sustainability.
According to Governor Reinaldo Azambuja (PSDB), his administration made a point of preparing Mato Grosso do Sul to become a place with ample business opportunities and job openings.
The governor also pointed out that he made several investments in infrastructure, to guarantee the competitiveness of commodities of State. In addition, the governor highlighted the state's tax incentive program, which has generated thousands of job openings and attracted more industries to the regions, making the pace of economic growth uniform throughout the state.
The city of Três Lagoas is a reference in Pulp
The city of Três Lagoas is known worldwide as the “World Pulp Capital”. In 2020, Eldorado Brasil exported around 48% of its production to Asian countries, ending the year with a net profit of BRL 641 million. Três Lagoas is currently responsible for 50% of Mato Grosso do Sul's industrial exports, including pulp and soybean meal.
