MEC Offers 7.8 Thousand Free Master’s and Doctorate Positions for Public School Teachers in 2026. Sign Up and Advance Your Career!
The Ministry of Education (MEC), in partnership with Capes, launches 7.8 thousand free master’s and doctorate positions for public basic education teachers throughout Brazil. The objective is to strengthen ongoing training and value the teaching profession, offering opportunities in courses recognized for excellence.
Enrollment begins in September and runs until November 2026. Interested parties must register online on the Capes website, and the courses will be offered at public higher education institutions, either in person or in a hybrid format. In total, there are 7,584 positions for professional master’s and 228 for doctorate, available only in the field of History.
Areas Covered by MEC
The program encompasses ten master’s areas and one doctorate area, including:

National Network of Universities and Scientific Societies
The courses will be offered by a wide network of public universities and, in addition, will involve the participation of scientific societies, such as the Brazilian Society of Physics (SBF) and the Brazilian Society of Mathematics (SBM).
