MEC Releases Free English and Spanish Courses with Certificate Valid Until January 2026; Enrollment Open Until December 31
The Ministry of Education (MEC) announced the opening of free online English and Spanish courses, available to anyone interested in learning a new language at no cost. In addition to the digital classes, participants will have access to an official certificate valid until January 2026, which can be used immediately as a differential in the job market.
Enrollment is open until December 31, 2025, and classes can be accessed until January 31, 2026. The initiative is part of the “Learn More” platform and aims to democratize language education in Brazil, offering opportunities that previously depended on paid courses.
How Free Courses Work
To enroll, simply create a free account on the “Learn More” portal and access the section “Languages, Language, and Literature”. All content is online, accessible from any computer or mobile device connected to the internet.

The English course consists of 13 stages divided into three modules each, totaling 30 hours of coursework. The Spanish course offers 10 stages, also with three modules per stage and the same workload. The modular format allows each student to progress at their own pace, revisit lessons, and consolidate learning gradually.
Why It’s Worth Enrolling
Besides being free, the main differential is the certificate recognized by MEC, which can be used on resumes, job selection processes, public competitions, and even for academic progression at universities. In an increasingly competitive market, speaking English or Spanish can open doors in national and international companies.
Another relevant point is the platform’s flexibility: classes can be taken at any time and place, adapting to the routines of workers, students, and young people seeking to qualify.
Democratization of Language Education
The MEC’s initiative responds to a long-standing demand from the population: access to quality courses without high costs. Learning languages has ceased to be a privilege of the few and has become an opportunity accessible to millions of Brazilians, allowing for greater professional and cultural inclusion.
According to experts, knowledge of English and Spanish is strategic for the future, not only for the job market but also for its impact on areas such as tourism, technology, foreign trade, and international relations.
