According to the new Construction Confidence Index (ICST), drafted by the Brazilian Institute of Economics of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation, in July there was an increase of 6.6 in the indicator, marking the third consecutive national rise. The score, which varies on a scale of 0 to 200, reached 83.7 points.

Expectations Improve
In light of the positive evolution of construction sector indicators, despite still showing declines in production and employment, business confidence and expectations have also improved.
- The Construction Entrepreneur Confidence Index (ICEI-Construction) increased by 3.7 points, recording 46.3 points in July. It is the third consecutive rise in the index, following significant drops in March and April.
- The indicators for expectations of purchasing inputs and raw materials and the number of employees registered 49.5 and 49.4 points, with increases of 5.3 and 5.7 points, respectively.
- The activity expectation indicator registered 50.1 points, up 4.4 points in July. Thus, the expectation for the coming months shifted from negative to neutral.
- The expectation index regarding new ventures and services recorded 48 points, meaning entrepreneurs still anticipate a decline in the number of new ventures and services in the next six months.
Jobs
Last week, according to data from the Ministry of Economy, it was shown that in June, the construction sector was the 2nd largest generator of jobs. The construction sector ranked second among the five groups of economic activities analyzed by the registry, with 17,270 jobs, only behind agribusiness.
