The New Treasure Discovered By The Automotive Market, White Oil, Is Nothing More Than Lithium That Is Being Used Heavily In Car Batteries
Have you heard of white oil? Well, it exists and is the great promise for the automotive market! In fact, this element is nothing more than lithium, the least dense metal in the world, which due to its color has earned this nickname.
The lithium metal is already being heavily used by car companies in vehicle batteries, which in turn help the car to play a very important role in society, especially in the realm of renewable energy.
White oil is extremely efficient and more durable than the other components that make up the battery, which is why it is so relevant in the automotive market.

MEET LITHIUM, THE WHITE OIL
Metal Desired By Many
Because of its reputation for being extremely relevant, lithium or white oil is currently the most desired commodity for the start of an energy transition. According to experts, the demand for the metal is expected to greatly increase in the coming years, surpassing its supply (which is limited!).
Although lithium is highly sought after, the supply of the metal is nearly scarce, as it is more present in South America, especially in Chile and Argentina, which are responsible for approximately 30% of the production of white oil.
In addition to these countries, China and Australia also hold significant lithium reserves, controlling 14% and 8% of the world’s deposits and 50% of the production.
High Demand For White Oil
By the end of 2022, the demand for lithium metal approached the mark of 684 thousand tons, meaning that if we follow this number, we will have a demand of about 2.4 million tons of metal by 2030 and a supply of 2.2 million tons.
Thus, the forecast is that demand will exceed supply in the coming years, which could generate a huge disconnect between raw material supply and demand (the deficit of lithium increases until 2030 and deepens further until 2040).
