Agreement Ensures Immediate and Safe Destination for Seized Fuels

The Federal Revenue faced a growing problem with the accumulation of seized fuels in actions against tax crimes.

Therefore, it decided to create a technical and permanent protocol to prevent waste and ensure environmental control of these products.

The Legal Fuel Institute, which represents distributors and regular companies, now indicates authorized companies to manage the storage and preservation of the seized material.

This way, the fuel maintains its chemical properties and remains safe until the judicial processes are concluded.

This measure reduces leaks, deterioration, and environmental damage, while also strengthening state oversight and public transparency.

Refinery Refit Will Be the First Major Test of the New Partnership

The first major challenge will be at the Refit refinery, in Rio de Janeiro, closed after lengthy investigations by the Federal Revenue.

The company, considered the largest chronic debtor in the country, accumulated large stocks of gasoline, diesel, and naphtha at risk of deterioration.

Now, with the support of the Legal Fuel Institute, the fuel will be transferred to certified companies, which will manage its controlled and technical storage.

Return System Ensures Transparency and Legal Balance

The companies indicated by the ICL are responsible for the conservation and quality of the product, under direct supervision of the Federal Revenue.

When the judicial process concludes, the fuel will be auctioned, replaced, or returned, depending on the court’s decision.

If the state wins, the Federal Revenue will receive an equivalent volume for public auction.

But if the defendant company is acquitted, the fuel returns to its control, with no loss to the parties involved.

This system guarantees total transparency, legal security, and efficient management throughout the process.
