The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross HPE-S 2026 Arrives in Brazil as a 4×4 SUV That Combines Sports Heritage, Comfort and Competitive Price.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross HPE-S 2026 has arrived in the Brazilian market in its 4×4 version with the mission of rescuing the brand’s sports identity, now adapted to the SUV universe.
Officially launched by Mitsubishi, the model stands out for its distinctive handling, competitive price, and design that references the legacy of the legendary Eclipse from the 1990s.
An SUV That Keeps Sports Heritage Alive
The name Eclipse refers to a time when Mitsubishi had a strong presence in movies like The Fast and the Furious and games like Need for Speed.

Less than a Tera TSI, up to 710 km of range and charging in 9 minutes: the new BYD Song Ultra expands the Chinese brand’s bet on increasingly faster, more technological, and competitively priced electric SUVs.

With a 1.0 engine producing 75 hp and costing less than R$ 70,000, Fiat’s car returns to the podium as the cheapest in the country; a temporary promotion for the 2026 Like version reduces the price of the Fiat Mobi.

With a mild hybrid system of 48 V, 176 hp and a price of R$ 175,990 in the Sahara version, the new Jeep Renegade changes mostly on the inside, improves slightly in fuel consumption, and remains almost the same car.

With a 293.5 cm³ engine and a range of up to 400 km with a 14.1-liter tank, the Honda CB 300F Twister 2026 has up to 24.7 hp, an initial price of R$ 25,150, and already exceeds R$ 29,000 in the Fipe Table.
Today, however, the rebellious coupe of the 1990s has given way to a more mature mid-size SUV, yet still carries fragments of that sporting essence.
In the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross HPE-S 2026, all-wheel drive and the suspension setup with McPherson at the front and multilink at the rear ensure a driving experience closer to that of a sports sedan than a traditional SUV.
In curves, the vehicle conveys a feeling of “walking on rails,” sticking firmly and securely to the asphalt.
Unique Driving Experience
During tests on the Estrada dos Romeiros in São Paulo, the SUV demonstrated unusual agility for the category.
Even with a taller and bulkier body, the Eclipse Cross maintains impressive stability, appealing to those seeking performance without sacrificing daily comfort.
This balance between reason and emotion reinforces Mitsubishi’s proposal to offer an SUV capable of delivering driving pleasure, without losing the practicality that consumers expect from an SUV.
Competitive Price and Above Average Interior Space
With a suggested price of R$ 222,990, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross HPE-S 4×4 2026 positions itself as the most affordable option among mid-size SUVs with all-wheel drive.
The model is slightly larger than the Jeep Compass, its main competitor, offering 4,545 mm in length and 2,670 mm in wheelbase.
Another positive point is the trunk space of 473 liters, which surpasses direct rivals like the Compass (410 liters). Moreover, the “sloped” design does not compromise interior comfort, providing a good sense of space and an airy cabin.

Technology and Finishing: Strengths and Weaknesses
Despite good handling, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross HPE-S 2026 still carries outdated solutions in its interior.
The lack of a digital dashboard and air conditioning vents for the rear seats may disappoint consumers accustomed to more modern technologies.
As a way to compensate, Mitsubishi equipped the SUV with a Head-Up Display, which projects basic information in front of the driver. Though simple, the feature performs its function well in daily use.
On the other hand, the ergonomics of some controls, such as mirror adjustments and HUD buttons, are not the most intuitive, requiring more attention from the driver.
Efficient Turbo Engine
Under the hood, the SUV features a 1.5 turbo 4B40 gasoline engine, with 165 hp of power and 25.5 kgfm of torque, coupled to a CVT automatic transmission that simulates eight gears.
The setup offers good performance for the category, although it does not reach the sporting level of competitors like the Compass Blackhawk 2.0 Hurricane, which delivers 272 hp.
The great balance, however, lies in the cost-benefit ratio: while rivals exceed the R$ 270,000 range, the Eclipse Cross remains at a more accessible level, competing even with top compact SUVs like the Nissan Kicks Platinum and Honda HR-V Turing.
Challenges in the Brazilian Market
Even with standout attributes, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross HPE-S 2026 is still rarely seen on the streets. In 2024, only 8,301 units were registered in Brazil, a number far lower than the performance of the Jeep Compass and Toyota Corolla Cross.
Experts point out that the main obstacle is the brand’s lack of investment in advertising. Little publicity means that the SUV does not receive the same attention from the public, despite delivering a complete package of comfort, 4×4 traction, performance, and competitive price.
