According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), the stoppages of the oil platforms in the Búzios and Tupi fields have reduced oil production
The Ministry of Mines and Energy reported that oil production from the Búzios and Tupi fields fell in February. According to Bento Albuquerque, minister of the MME, the P-74 platform and the reduction of the FPSO Cidade de Maricá platform in the Tupi oil field and in the Búzios field showed a drop in oil and natural gas production, at 1.71% and 3.94%, respectively.
MME Releases Data on Covid-19
According to the weekly Covid-19 monitoring report released by the MME, Petrobras’ refineries saw a decrease in utilization factor at the end of last week, after starting the week rising.
The announcement from the MME indicated that, over the last weekend, the average refining price fell to 77.7% after reaching 80% in previous weeks. Oil Production
Tupi Field: The Tupi field, which was renamed in September 2020 from the Lula field (for legal reasons), is an oil field located in the Santos Basin off the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro. Production is between 5 and 8 billion barrels of high-quality oil, or relatively light oil, in addition to associated natural gas.
Búzios Field: The largest deepwater oil field in the world, it is a world-class asset with high-quality oil, substantial reserves, low risk, and low extraction costs. It is located 180 km off the Brazilian coast and more than 5,000 meters deep. It has an area of 850 km², with reservoir thicknesses of up to 480 meters and excellent reservoir rock quality. The more than 45 wells drilled so far confirm the excellent production and quality of the reservoir.
