The Valo Hyperfoil Electric Jet Ski Is for Those Seeking a Unique Experience, as It Is Equipped with Hydrofoils to Cut Through the Waves and Elevate Above the Water
For some time now, we have seen an increase in the number of vessels equipped with hydrofoils, such as the Valo Hyperfoil electric jet ski. Following in the footsteps of the amphibious electric Trident LS-1 or the hybrid electric and hydrogen boat SeaBubble, the personal electric watercraft is also capable of flying on water.
Boundary Layer Technologies, a startup based in California, has come up with this new idea that holds many exciting promises for those who enjoy mixing: water and speed.
The Valo is a high-performance semi-automatic electric jet ski that comes equipped with hydrofoils that, combined with an active stability system and control software, ensure a unique experience on the water, unmatched by any other jet ski, electric or not.

Automatic cars become ‘cheap’ in Brazil, and models from Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan, and Honda appear for R$ 65,000 with up to 120 hp, CVT transmission, 482 liters of trunk space, keyless entry, and six airbags to tackle traffic without a clutch.
As the vessel navigates above the water surface, more specifically at a height of approximately 60 centimeters, the waves do not hinder its path, and the water level does not rise as the vessel moves through the area. Thus, the Valo Hyperfoil can achieve high speeds.
The hydrofoils of the electric jet ski are retractable, making it easier to maneuver when not being used for “flying” on the water. This is one of the features that sets the Valo apart from other water motorcycles.
According to the manufacturer, the Valo Hyperfoil electric jet ski has a range of up to 107 kilometers and can move at a speed of 64 kilometers per hour in the most economical mode.
The Valo Hyperfoil Can Reach Speeds Close to 100 Km/h When Elevating Above the Water and Reducing Drag

Due to its mechanism that uses hydrofoils to elevate above the water, the Valo Hyperfoil can reach speeds close to 100 km/h; obviously, in this mode, the range will decrease. When charging using a Level 2 vehicle charger of 240 volts, it will take three hours to reach 95% of capacity.
The first prototype is almost ready, and the company responsible for the electric watercraft expects to have the first vehicles available for testing as early as next month, February 2023. The year 2024 has been chosen as the official launch year.
According to the company, the starting price will be set at $59,000, which directly converts to an incredible amount exceeding R$ 300,000. The manufacturer has not yet announced whether the Valo Hyperfoil will be sold in the international market.
