With a total power of 654 horsepower, the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray hybrid accelerates from 0 to 96 kilometers per hour in just 2.5 seconds, according to the manufacturer
As the first hybrid iteration of the iconic American supercar, the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is a vehicle that will go down in automotive history. The electric sports car, however, is not as dedicated to reducing emissions as it is to providing a high level of performance. This is similar to the approach taken by other automakers, who are more concerned with the car’s power.
With a total power of 654 horsepower, the E-Ray Corvette is not the most powerful model available for the latest generation of the Corvette. After all, the Z06 has 679 horsepower, despite lacking integrated electric boost. Being a hybrid, the E-Ray can launch with more vigor, as it can take advantage of the quick torque provided by its electric motor.
Therefore, according to Chevrolet, it takes only 2.5 seconds to go from 0 to 96 kilometers per hour (60 miles per hour), which is 0.1 seconds faster than the Z06. However, while it is not as powerful as the most extreme version of the Corvette currently available, the E-Ray has about 150 more horsepower than the standard version of the sports car.

Honda ends the gasoline era: HR-V 2028 will feature a new 1.5 hybrid engine, greater range, more efficient consumption, AI in Honda Sensing, 360° 3D cameras, advanced semi-autonomous driving, and a new e:HEV system to compete with Chinese SUVs in the global market.
The hybrid system consists of a 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 502 horsepower and 65 kg of torque. This engine is the same one used by the more affordable Corvette C8, except that it is paired with an electric motor generating 162 horsepower, resulting in a combined power of 654 horsepower. There is traction only on the rear wheels, and the transmission is automatic with 8 speeds.
In addition to being an electric vehicle, the Corvette E-Ray is equipped with some exclusive features. Both the carbon-ceramic brakes and the magnetic suspension produced by Brembo fall into this category. The body is wider than the normal model by 9.14 centimeters and is slightly broader than the standard model overall. The front bumper is also unique to this variant.
Although it has already been shown, the hybrid model does not yet have a specific debut date; nonetheless, the trend is for the electric sports car to be revealed in the second half of this year, already as a 2024 line-up. Watch the following video for details about the new Corvette E-Ray:
Just as Chevrolet presented the Corvette E-Ray hybrid, Hyundai is also investing in the segment and will offer an additional electric motor version of the Kona 2024
In addition to Chevrolet’s announcement of the Corvette E-Ray hybrid, other automakers have also been betting on car models that combine combustion engines with electric ones in order to reach new audiences. An example of this is Hyundai, which recently announced a hybrid version of the compact SUV Kona, set to be launched in 2024.
According to the company, the Hyundai Kona 2024 will have a version with a 1.6-liter hybrid engine for customers interested in an electric powertrain. This engine, according to the vehicle’s manufacturer, delivers “excellent acceleration and good efficiency.” The combined power of the hybrid system, which pairs the 1.6-liter gasoline engine with an additional electric motor, is 140 horsepower and the torque is 27 kgfm.
