Its dimensions are impressive, measuring 366 meters in length and 50 meters in width. The vessel is powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), a cleaner fuel alternative. The official naming ceremony took place on June 14, 2025.

Naming of Giant Ship Strengthens Ties Between MSC and Port of Hamburg
The naming event of the giant ship also celebrated the strong partnership between MSC and the city of Hamburg. Melanie Leonhard, Senator for Economic Affairs, Labor and Innovation of Hamburg, inaugurated the ship. “Hamburg will be a reliable stopover port for MSC GERMANY,” she remarked.
The relationship between the company and the city has deepened. MSC plans to build its new German headquarters in HafenCity, Hamburg, starting in 2026. Additionally, in December 2023, MSC and the City of Hamburg secured over 92% of the local logistics company HHLA (Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG). Together, they intend to drive the strategic development of the entire Port of Hamburg.
MSC Foundation Announces New Collaboration
The MSC Foundation took advantage of the naming day of the giant ship to announce plans to return to Hamburg. The foundation started one of its first partnerships in the city in 2019. Now, a new collaboration will begin with the Gesellschaft für ökologische Planung e.V. (GÖP). The goal is to support the work of this association in environmental education and management in Hamburg.
