Canadian Immigration Minister Needs to Fill 1.4 Million Job Vacancies to Increase the Workforce in the Country!
Are you Brazilian and dream of living and finding a job in Canada? Sean Fraser, the Canadian Immigration Minister, is going against the trend in the U.S. and the U.K. – which currently have strict immigration policies – and announced a plan to welcome around 1.4 million migrants in the next three years. “Look, it’s simple: we need more people,” said the minister in those words.
Canada expects to welcome 465,000 new permanent residents in 2023, 485,000 in 2024, and up to 500,000 in 2025. This represents an increase of about 13% from the initial targets set by the Canadian government.
The minister’s decision is due to the fact that Canada currently has tens of thousands of job vacancies available, but no one to fill them.

“The immigration plan will help companies find the workers they need,” said Fraser.
Many of the job vacancies that were created after the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic are still unfilled. Additionally, more and more Canadian citizens are retiring from their jobs, creating a gap that has not been possible to fill.
Canada Needs Labor in Healthcare, IT, Restaurants, Construction, and More!
It is worth noting that Canada has always been welcoming to foreign labor, but this is the first time it has been done on this scale.
“Canadians understand the need to grow our population if we want to meet the needs of the workforce, if we want to balance a troubling demographic trend, and continue reuniting families,” said Fraser.
According to the Canadian government, there is a shortage of skilled labor in the construction, manufacturing, hospitality, tourism, and restaurant sectors, but the most affected is the healthcare sector.
