State Announces Historic Investment of R$ 514.2 Million to Transform Highway. The project, which includes duplication and concrete restoration of 45.5 km, promises to revolutionize the road infrastructure of the central region of the state, ensuring a lifespan of 30 years and significant improvements for drivers and local communities.
In the heart of Paraná, a significant transformation in the road infrastructure is about to take place, promising to positively impact mobility and regional development.
The PRC-466, vital for the connection between Pitanga and Turvo, will be the site of a grand project aimed at modernizing and expanding its capacity, benefiting thousands of users daily.
The Department of Roads of Paraná (DER/PR) has approved the bidding results for the duplication and concrete restoration of the PRC-466, between Pitanga and Turvo, with an investment of R$ 514,230,020.00.

While Brazil has been dragging its feet on the Rio-São Paulo bullet train for 30 years, California has turned its own into a zombie project: 18 years, $126 billion, 60 viaducts completed, and zero meters of track laid, with Trump cutting $4 billion in July.

While Brazil has been discussing the Maracanã renovation for 25 years and struggles to keep the Arena MorumBis open, Abu Dhabi signs a $1.7 billion deal to build the world’s second Sphere on an artificial island, with 20,000 seats, by 2029.

There are only four days left until the Income Tax deadline, and the Federal Revenue Service is still awaiting over 13 million returns. Those who miss the 11:59 PM deadline on May 29 will incur a minimum fine of R$ 165.74 with no discount.
The winning consortium, formed by the companies Construtora Sanches Tripoloni Ltda. and Consol Engenheiros Consultores Ltda., will be responsible for executing the project within a period of 750 calendar days, starting from the issuance of the Service Order.
Project Includes Duplication, New Bridges, and Viaducts
The project will cover 45.5 kilometers of the highway, which will receive a new rigid concrete pavement and will have its current lane restored using whitetopping technique.
This technique uses the existing asphalt pavement as a base for a new Portland cement concrete pavement that is 22 centimeters thick, ensuring a lifespan of 30 years.
In addition to the duplication, three diamond-type grade-separated intersections are planned, allowing entry and exit from the highway via the right lane.
Two of these viaducts will be located in Pitanga, at the junctions with PR-239 and Avenida Universitária.
The third will be at the junction with PR-456, facilitating access to the municipality of Santa Maria do Oeste.
Another crucial improvement will be the construction of two new bridges, which will be built parallel to the existing ones.
The first will be over the Carazinho River, located between the junctions with PR-456 and PR-820 (access to Boa Ventura de São Roque).
The second will be over the Bonito River, near the junction with PR-820. To ensure pedestrian safety, a walkway will be installed between the two new viaducts in Pitanga.

Structural Improvements and Road Safety
The project also provides for nine at-grade crossings, a new drainage system, modern signage, road safety devices, sidewalks, bus stop shelters, and lighting at viaducts and crossings.
Such improvements will ensure not only smoother traffic but also more safety and comfort for drivers and pedestrians.
In the first 90 days after the contract is signed, the responsible consortium will develop the project’s executive plan.
Starting in the second month, earthworks and the implementation of the new drainage system will begin.
This approach aims to expedite work and ensure that execution occurs according to the established schedule.
Moreover, the decision to use rigid concrete pavement instead of asphalt is an important differentiator of the project.
With an estimated durability of three decades, this choice represents a long-term economic solution, reducing maintenance and frequent repair costs.
The state secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics, Sandro Alex, highlighted that this is one of the most significant works of the current administration, representing a milestone for the development of Paraná.
The duplication of PRC-466 will strengthen the state’s logistics and provide better conditions for the flow of agricultural and industrial production in the region.
Expansion of PRC-466 and Other Investments in Paraná
In parallel with this project, the DER/PR is already conducting the duplication of PRC-466 between Guarapuava and the district of Palmeirinha.
Proposals for the duplication of the stretch between Turvo and Palmeirinha are also under analysis.
With the completion of these work fronts, the section that connects Pitanga to Guarapuava will be completely duplicated and restored in concrete, consolidating the longest stretch with these characteristics in the state road network.
This will place PRC-466 as one of the most strategic logistics corridors in Paraná.
The central region of the state will directly benefit from this modernization, as in addition to improving urban and road mobility, the project will contribute to real estate appreciation and local economic growth.
The state government emphasizes that investments in infrastructure are essential for the sustainable development of Paraná.
Projects like this allow for reducing logistics costs, improving road safety, and increasing the competitiveness of the state’s production chains.
With the progress of the duplication of PRC-466 and other road initiatives, Paraná establishes itself as a reference in infrastructure in Brazil, investing in modern and efficient projects that benefit both the productive sector and citizens.
