Nestlé Plans New Unit and Massive Investments in Several Brazilian States. The Expectation is That More Than 3 Thousand Jobs Will Be Created by the Multinational.
The Nestlé plans to invest more than R$ 2.5 billion in Brazil this year alone. If confirmed, this will be the largest amount ever invested by the company in the last 5 years in the national territory. The focus of the investment will primarily be on capacity expansion in Nestlé factories, product and packaging innovation, new process technologies, and operational efficiency.

Just over half of the total to be invested (R$ 1.3 billion) will go towards the establishment of a new Nestlé Purina factory in Vargeão, in western Santa Catarina, creating various new jobs.
A large part of the company’s investment will be used for the construction of the new industrial plant for dog and cat food. Among the priority projects for the year are new product and packaging lines, capacity expansion, primarily for the confectionery and biscuit categories, at the units in Vila Velha (ES), Marília (SP), and Caçapava (SP), as well as expansion projects in São José do Rio Pardo (SP) and Araras (SP).

A significant portion of Nestlé’s total amount will be spent on new packaging implementation projects and development projects, as well as more sustainable processes at the units, such as new biomass boilers replacing gas and also initiatives for savings, such as energy and water reuse, with a focus on energy transition.
According to Nestlé Brazil’s CEO, Marcelo Melchior, for this year, the company continues to invest in productivity, operational sustainability, and innovation. The multinational is even anticipating some strategic innovation and capacity expansion projects scheduled for next year, in order to contribute to the business results.
New Nestlé Factory Aims to Reduce 15 Thousand Tons of CO2 Per Year
According to Melchior, this means that during the year, the company will announce new packaging and products for biscuits and chocolates, for example, in addition to launches in infant nutrition, supplementation, and dairy. About R$ 1.2 billion is allocated for the company’s operations in the industry, such as digital transformation, new technologies, and sustainable processes in factories, as well as in the logistics chain.
Of this total, 88% is directed towards production, including continuity of operations and expansion of manufacturing capacity, focusing on greater efficiency and initiatives aimed at sustainability such as new biomass boilers and energy efficiency solutions.
The planned projects will result in a reduction of approximately 15 thousand tons of CO2 per year, a volume greater than that obtained last year with similar initiatives. Just in terms of innovation in products and packaging, investments of R$ 264 million are planned. The remaining resources are divided among sales and distribution logistics, resources related to technology, management, and administrative activities.
Nestlé Will Also Focus on Industry 4.0
Among the priority projects for this year, in addition to the investment in Purina, are investments in digital transformation and Industry 4.0, with technologies and robots that generate greater efficiency and productivity, as well as infrastructure adjustments for new technologies, mainly at the plants in Araras (SP), Ituiutaba (MG), Caçapava (SP), and Montes Claros (MG).
According to the company executive, Nestlé is accelerating investments and also bringing forward projects in new lines and technologies that will allow for capacity expansion and support the business strategies that the company has outlined for the period. It is important to mention that it is already possible to see the results of the company’s initiatives in Brazil, with the generation of various jobs.
