Images of a Tailless Stealth Aircraft Circulate on Chinese Websites and Raise Questions About New Military Projects in the Country.

Social media in China has been flooded with images and videos of a mysterious tailless aircraft that has not yet been officially identified. Some believe it to be a third advanced prototype. The footage shows the model in flight, but there is no confirmation of whether it is manned.

The most important thing is that there are no clear dates for the images or official validation of their authenticity. Nonetheless, the leak has sparked curiosity.

Design and Visible Features

The aircraft features a pointed nose that connects to fully integrated delta wings. It also has air intakes for two engines and lacks a vertical stabilizer. This suggests that the design prioritizes low observability, known as stealth technology.

Furthermore, the tricycle landing gear, with wheels on the nose and fuselage, indicates it may have a size comparable to conventional aircraft or those compatible with aircraft carriers. An air data probe appears to be positioned at the front.

Manned or Advanced Drone?

There are no clear signs of a cockpit, raising the possibility of it being an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This aligns with China’s investments in stealth and autonomous drones capable of operating with or without human pilots.

The country already has models such as the GJ-11 “Sharp Sword” and the FH-97/FH-97A, comparable to the American “Valkyrie” and “Ghost Bat” programs. Experts suggest that the new aircraft could integrate into a Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) project that is under development in the United States.

Internal Competition

Some point out that the model could compete with the stealth fighter J-XDS, possibly identified as J-50, from Shenyang. Others suggest similarities with the J-36 from Chengdu, considered a Chinese response to the American F-22 and F-15EX.

If optimized for aircraft carriers, the design could integrate with the new ships of the Chinese navy. The fuselage shape and air intakes reinforce the aesthetic proximity to the J-36.

Signs of a Bigger Military Strategy

Analysts believe the images indicate that China is working on the development of tailless stealth aircraft. Another hypothesis is that it is creating drones with artificial intelligence to fly in coordinated squadrons. This would allow manned fighters, such as the J-20S or the two-seater KJ-500, to control entire groups of drones in combat.

Expectation for Official Appearance

The forecast is that, if real, the aircraft may appear at a public event. A likely moment would be the military parade on September 3, 2025, which could showcase new models of drones and stealth fighters.

For now, the situation remains uncertain. The international community remains alert to new leaks that could reveal more about the enigmatic Chinese project.
