New JAC Pickup Arrives in 2025 to Put Market Giants “in Their Place”. Leaked Information Shows That the JAC Hunter Will Have a Higher Load Capacity Than Hilux, Ranger, and S10.
The medium pickup market is booming in Brazil, and Chinese manufacturers do not want to miss out on this trend. After the launch of the Fiat Titano and the revamped Chevrolet S10, one of the most anticipated is the new JAC pickup. Recently, some leaked information indicates that the JAC Hunter promises to stand out with the highest load capacity in the segment, as reported by the media.
Check How Many kg of Capacity the New JAC Hunter Pickup Has
Currently, the highest load capacity in the segment belongs to the Volkswagen Amarok with 1,156 kg. According to information from dealerships, the new JAC pickup will have around 1,500 kg of load capacity. Therefore, it will be the largest, by a considerable margin, in the medium pickup category.
For comparison, a RAM 3500, which belongs to the large pickup segment, has a load capacity of 1,687 kg – and it is the only one that surpasses the JAC Hunter. With this load capacity, the new JAC pickup could face a problem regarding Brazilian legislation.

With nearly 1,500 kg of load capacity, the pickup cannot exceed 2,000 kg in running order. The reason is that pickups with Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), which is the sum of load capacity and the weight of the vehicle in running order, above 3,500 kg cannot be driven by drivers with a category B driver’s license. For this, the driver must have a category C. Thus, the Hunter would lose a considerable share of the market.
Check the Revealed Details of the New JAC Pickup’s Design
The brand is taking the necessary precautions to ensure that its weight is below two tons and that a category C driver’s license is not required to drive the model. The most recent competitor launched to compete with the Hunter pickup is the BYD Shark.

Alongside the Chinese model are the well-known Chevrolet S10, Ford Ranger, and the market leader Toyota Hilux. All the dimensions of the new JAC pickup are impressive, measuring 5,620 mm in length, 3,400 mm in wheelbase, 1,965 mm in width, and 1,920 mm in height. These measurements correspond to the medium pickup segment.
The new Chinese pickup will arrive with a double cabin and a characteristic design of the segment. The JAC logo will occupy a large part of the front grille, similar to Ford models. Still at the front, the pickup features a lighting arrangement divided into three levels. The rear does not show significant differences from its competitors, with upright rectangular taillights as well as the brand name embossed on the bed cover.
JAC Pickup Delivers 170 hp of Power
Unlike the Shark, the JAC pickup is expected to be offered in two variants: electric and diesel. In the pickup with a thermal engine, the powertrain is a 2.0 four-cylinder 16V, which generates 170 hp of power and 41.8 kgfm of torque. The Hunter pickup also features an eight-speed automatic transmission. It also has 4×4 traction, with low gear and a locking rear differential. The towing capacity is 3,500 kg.
In the battery-powered variant, the pickup is expected to arrive with an electric motor that delivers 204 hp of power and 30.1 kgfm of torque. Unlike the combustion version, the traction of the electric pickup will be 4×2 rear.
This setup is the same as the iEV330P but is expected to have an increased battery capacity from 65.3 kWh to 77 kWh, aiming to expand the current range of 226 km (on the Inmetro cycle).
