Brazilian Renewable Energy Market Is Growing With The Creation Of New Solar Power Plants
The city hall of Betim, to make the city much more sustainable, announced another measure that, besides bringing greater environmental benefits, will also promote savings for municipal management. This week, the execution of a solar energy project began at the João Paulo II Administrative Center, where a photovoltaic plant will be installed on part of the roof of the public complex. The project will allow the generation of enough energy to meet 100% of the consumption of the entire building and still supply other public buildings.

Solar Power Plant In Betim Promises To Boost The Economy
The construction of the solar power plant will be executed in three phases and is expected to be completed in six months. The first construction phase, which is the reinforcement of the roof, has already begun and should last about 60 to 90 days. The other phases will involve the installation of the panels and the application of a waterproof acoustic coating based on polyurethane on part of the plant’s structure.
The installation of the photovoltaic solar energy system will require an investment of more than R$ 3 million from municipal resources; the roof reinforcement and coating are the result of a contribution made by a private company.

Energy That Generates Savings
According to the president of the Construction, Works, Services, Projects, Transport, and Traffic Company of Betim (ECOS), Marinésia Makatsuru, the goal of the municipal administration is to produce sustainable energy while simultaneously generating savings for the public treasury.
“2,274 panels of 440W each will be installed, which should generate an annual saving of R$ 883,000. Solar energy is a viable and sustainable alternative as it not only reduces expenses but also enables energy generation for various activities,” Marinésia stated, adding that soon the investment will be reverted into gains for the city’s economy.
