Governor Mauro Mendes Highlights the Importance of the New Corn Ethanol Plant in Tapurah and Its Positive Impact on the Biofuels Sector in MT.
The first corn ethanol plant in Tapurah received Governor Mauro Mendes at its construction site at the beginning of the week. This project represents an important milestone for the biofuels sector in Mato Grosso and highlights the state’s potential for economic growth. The new plant is a significant undertaking aimed at strengthening Mato Grosso’s position as one of the leaders in ethanol production in Brazil.
Visit of Governor Mauro Mendes to the Plant
During the visit, Mendes emphasized the importance of the project for the local economy and the positive impact it will have on the region’s development.
“I visited the construction of the new ethanol plant in Tapurah, a grand project that showcases the strength of entrepreneurship in our region. The scale of the project, and the construction of a similar second plant in Diamantino, demonstrate the confidence of investors in our state’s potential. This initiative will boost production, create jobs, and place Mato Grosso at the forefront of the biofuels sector, showing the world the strength of our economy,” said the governor.

Investor Interest in the Biofuels Sector
The governor also mentioned the growing interest from investors in the biofuels sector in Mato Grosso.
According to him, the confidence shown by investors is a reflection of the state’s ability to meet demand and expand production.
“Mato Grosso is attracting major investments in the biofuels sector, which is a clear sign of the potential of our economy. The construction of this plant in Tapurah and the future establishment of a unit in Diamantino are proof that the state is ready to lead in the biofuels and food market,” Mendes stated.
The growing interest from investors is seen as a positive indicator for the economic development of Mato Grosso and for the strengthening of the local industry.
Advancement in Ethanol Production
In 2023, Mato Grosso stood out as the national leader in corn ethanol production, reaching 4.4 billion liters, representing 73% of the country’s total production.
This achievement reflects the state’s ability to meet market demands and the efficiency of its industrial operations.
For Mauro Mendes, the new plant is an important step in advancing the state’s industrialization.
He believes that the investment not only reinforces Mato Grosso’s position in the domestic and international market but also contributes to sustainable economic growth.
“The Government of Mato Grosso believes in the productive potential of these investments and how they contribute to all regions of the state. By strengthening and consolidating the industrial sector, we enhance our capacity for sustainable growth in food and biofuels production for the world,” the governor stated.
Impact of the Plant on the Local Economy
The new plant in Tapurah will have a processing capacity of 1 million tons of corn per year, which translates to more than 1.3 million liters of ethanol per day.
The construction of the plant is also a major source of employment, with about 700 people currently employed and expectations that the number of workers will exceed one thousand in the coming months.
The plant’s impact on the local economy will be significant, contributing to job creation and the development of regional infrastructure.
The operation of the plant will also strengthen Mato Grosso’s capacity to lead in biofuels production, consolidating its position in the sector.
