BYD’s Flex Hybrid SUV Anticipates the Design of the 2027 Line, Gains Gearshift on the Steering Column and Can Reach up to 133 km of Electric Range in the New Generation, Presented During the Factory Inauguration in Camaçari (BA).
BYD presented, during the inauguration of its factory in Camaçari (BA), the Song Pro as its first plug-in flex hybrid vehicle produced in the country.
The model anticipates the design that will be adopted by the brand starting in 2026, identified as 2027 line, and incorporates a gearshift installed next to the steering wheel, as well as changes to the dashboard and multimedia center.
According to information from the automaker, the Song Pro flex represents the beginning of a new industrial phase for BYD in Brazil, with a focus on electrification and the use of ethanol as an alternative renewable fuel.

Launch in China Presents Version with 133 km Range
The Song Pro DM-i 2026 was officially presented in China on October 23, with design and cabin changes.
The main evolution is the version with electric range of up to 133 km in local cycle (CLTC), according to official data from BYD.
This range, not yet confirmed for the Brazilian market, extends the electric reach compared to previous versions, which ranged from 75 km to 115 km in the Chinese standard.
Facelift Brings New Dragon Face Language
The new look of the Song Pro fully adopts the design language Dragon Face, already used in other models from the brand.

The headlights are narrower and the front grille has been redesigned, replaced by “C” shaped elements that outline the air intakes.
According to the manufacturer, the rear also received changes, including a new bumper base and redesigned wheels, maintaining similar proportions to the previous generation.
Redesigned Cabin with Gearshift on the Column
Inside, the Song Pro now features a gear selector on the steering column, replacing the central shifter.
BYD reports that this configuration improves the utilization of interior space, freeing up area in the console for new compartments and physical controls.
The 50W induction charger replaces the previous 15W one, offering faster recharging for compatible phones.
The digital dashboard has been redesigned and now integrates with the multimedia center, while the steering wheel adopts more straight lines.
The internal setup follows the same visual arrangement as the Song Plus, also sold in the country.
Hybrid Engine and Performance Data
The national Song Pro uses a 1.5 aspirated engine combined with an electric motor.

The GL version delivers 223 hp and 40.8 kgfm of torque, while the GS version reaches 235 hp and 43 kgfm, according to official brand data.
The batteries have 12.9 kWh and 18.3 kWh, respectively.
In Brazilian homologation (PBEV/Inmetro), the electric range is 49 km for the GL version and 68 km for the GS.
Industry experts explain that the difference in relation to the numbers disclosed in China occurs because the national measurement cycles are more rigorous than the CLTC used by the Chinese market.
Flex Version and Adjustments for the Brazilian Market
The version presented in Bahia brings the flex plug-in hybrid system, compatible with ethanol and gasoline.
According to BYD, the engine calibration has been adjusted to operate with different compression ratios and specific electronic control for each type of fuel.
There is no confirmation yet regarding the arrival in Brazil of the configuration with 133 km of range, which depends on the homologation of a higher-capacity battery and adaptation to the flex engine.
National Production and Update Schedule
BYD’s plant in Camaçari (BA) began operations with the assembly of Dolphin Mini, King, and Song Pro models.
The first units of the SUV will be assembled in SKD regime, that is, with pre-assembled sets imported from China.
According to the company, the facelift of the Song Pro, already launched in the Chinese market, is expected to begin local production in 2026, integrating the 2027 line.
Automotive industry experts say this transition will allow for greater nationalization of components and an expansion of production capacity.
Efficiency in Urban and Highway Use
The hybrid system DM-i, used by BYD, allows the Song Pro to operate long stretches solely with the electric motor, especially in urban use.
When the battery charge is low, the combustion engine comes into operation to generate energy or propel the vehicle.

According to engineers consulted by the industry, this type of configuration tends to reduce average fuel consumption and urban emissions, in addition to offering greater smoothness of operation, as the thermal engine operates in optimized ranges.
Equipment and Technological Resources
The model maintains AC charging of up to 6.6 kW, V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) function that allows powering external devices and system updates OTA (Over The Air).
The multimedia center continues with a rotating screen and compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The digital dashboard, according to the brand, received new resolution and greater integration with the rest of the cabin.
The vehicle also features driving assistants (ADAS), including collision warning, automatic braking, and adaptive cruise control.
Perspectives and Next Steps
The launch schedule for the Song Pro flex in the national market still depends on production adjustments and the homologation of new versions.
Industry sources indicate that BYD should maintain two main versions, with different battery capacities, and add at least one option with the flex system as standard.
If confirmed, the version with 133 km of range could be offered in a higher configuration, expanding the brand’s plug-in hybrid portfolio in the country.
Industrial Context and Positioning
The Song Pro is part of the trio of vehicles chosen by BYD to mark the start of local production.
The strategy, according to the company, aims to consolidate Brazil as a regional export base and strengthen the use of ethanol as an energy transition fuel.
The gradual nationalization of components, combined with the new design and adoption of the column-mounted gearshift, is seen by industry analysts as part of the brand’s global standardization.
With the arrival of the 2027 line, expectations are that the Song Pro will strengthen BYD’s presence in the plug-in hybrid segment in the country.
But the main question remains: will the Brazilian consumer value the new design, the expanded range, or the flex technology of the hybrid system more?
