The State of Ceará Announced the Signing of Another Memorandum on Monday (07) for the Construction of a New Green Hydrogen Project in the Pecém Complex, Generating 5 Thousand Jobs During the Works and More 600 Jobs in the Operation Phase
The Government of Ceará announced, on Monday (7), a new green hydrogen project that will create around 5,000 new jobs. The project will be developed in the Pecém Complex and its memorandum has already been signed by Camilo Santana (PT-CE), Governor of Ceará, and representatives of Cactus Energia Verde, responsible for the project, in a live broadcast on social media. The estimate is that in the new project, which will be added to others that will be installed in the Export Processing Zone (ZPE) of Ceará, 5 billion euros will be invested.

Unit Will Produce 10,5 Thousand Tons of Green Hydrogen per Month
The estimate is that the plant will begin construction in the Pecém Complex in 2023, generating many jobs. When completed, it could produce 5,200 tons of green oxygen and 10,500 tons of green hydrogen per month.
In addition to the 5,000 jobs during the construction phase, more than 600 will also be generated for the operation phase. According to the governor, this is the strategy that the state has focused on, and the main goal is to create opportunities for everyone, enabling Ceará to develop, grow, and generate jobs. Cactus Energia Verde, as mentioned earlier, will be installed in the ZPE of the Pecém Complex in an area of up to 250 hectares.

Luis Eugênio Pontes, Executive Director of Cactus Energia Verde and President of the Uruquê Photovoltaic Park, stated that during a conversation with a major international investor, Ceará was noted as a significant highlight related to renewable energy, especially for the green hydrogen that will be produced in the state.
Luis emphasizes that the investor also stated that Ceará will be the next OPEC of renewable and clean energies. According to the Secretary of Economic Development and Labor, Maia Júnior, the hub in the Pecém Complex will change the economic profile of the state.
Ceará Promises to Generate Free Training Courses for Young People Interested in the Green Hydrogen Sector
In addition to the jobs generated, Cândido Albuquerque, Rector of the Federal University of Ceará, Hidelbrando dos Santos Soares, from the State University of Ceará, and Ricardo Cavalcante, President of the Federation of Industries of Ceará (Fiec), highlighted the role of educational institutions in training thousands of workers who will be involved in the green hydrogen project in the Pecém Complex.
New courses and new research centers were highlighted by the rectors of UFC, UECE, and also by the National Service of Industry (Senai) for the training of these individuals.
