It is important to note that the CLTC standard presents more optimistic results when compared to the EPA or WLTP standards. The NIO ET5 offers both a traditional purchase formula and the possibility to subscribe to a “Batteries as a Service” model, which grants access to battery swap services at stations operating in China, reducing the price to the equivalent of 35,500 euros.
Electric Sedan NIO ET5 Can Accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in Just 4.3 Seconds
Considering the savings from the Tesla Model 3 competitor’s purchase, the manufacturer requires a monthly payment of 130 euros for the 75 kWh battery pack and 205 euros for the 100 kWh version.
The NIO ET5 version with a 150 kWh battery, on the other hand, currently does not have this battery swap option. Discussing other features of the electric sedan with Chinese technology, NIO claims that the model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, thanks to its powertrain with two electric motors that, through all four wheels, can deliver 489 horsepower and 71.3 kgfm of torque.
Tesla Model 3 Competitor to Hit Automotive Market in 2022
The model measures 1.96 m in width, 4.79 m in length, 1.50 m in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.88 m. These measurements are slightly larger than those of its rival Tesla Model 3. Indeed, the new NIO ET5 electric sedan features elegant lines and an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.24.
From a technological standpoint, it also offers a groundbreaking head-up display with augmented reality known as PanoCinema that projects data onto the windshield in a similar area to what the driver would see if consulting a 201-inch screen 6 meters ahead.
The vehicle will be sold in the Chinese market early next year; however, throughout the year it will also arrive in the European market, scheduled only for markets such as Germany, the Netherlands, and Norway.
