Initially, 55 thousand tons of imported and exported products were recorded at the Galeão Airport, representing a weight increase of 7% compared to 2021. According to Leandro Lopes, commercial manager of RIOgaleão Cargo, the air transport, oil & gas, pharmaceutical and chemical industries contributed to this excellent performance.
Thus, TAP Portugal, Air France, KLM, and the cargo frequencies of Cargolux and Latam Cargo handled more than 60% of the volumes received at the terminal. According to Leandro Lopes, the return of the air network at RIOgaleão allowed for better service to customers.
This contributed to the increase in cargo movement in 2022 even in the face of challenges posed by the pandemic. The chemical segment was especially benefited by air transport due to capacity restrictions in maritime transport.

Engine Of The Economy Of Brazil
The Tom Jobim International Airport, under concession since 2014, has significantly contributed to the Brazilian economy with a total import value of over US$ 60 billion. The cargo terminal is responsible for a commercial air network and weekly freighter operations, in addition to customized customer service.
RIOgaleão Cargo has 55 thousand m³ of bonded storage, with 22 thousand m³ dedicated to temperature-controlled cargo operations. The airport’s team and equipment are ready to meet the legal requirements of the cold chain. However, there are customized solutions for large, valuable, or hazardous products that need to be handled individually.
Thus, new information about Galeão Airport Cargo was announced, which stands out for its operational efficiency in releasing cargo to importers. The terminal also prides itself on the certifications obtained, such as CEIV Pharma from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Authorized Economic Operator (OEA) from the Federal Revenue, ISO 9001, and Good Practices Certificate from Anvisa.
