New Criteria From The Federal Government To Receive The Emergency Aid Benefit Have Generated Doubts And Annoyance Among Brazilians

In light of the scenario in which Brazilians found themselves trying to survive during the Covid-19 pandemic, and after many appeals from the public, the Federal Government granted the emergency aid benefit last year (2020) to try to reduce the economic impacts that the pandemic would cause for middle and low-income individuals. It was announced that the benefit would end this year in 2021, even though Brazilians are still facing various difficulties to survive.

After a significant appeal from the people, the Federal Government decided that the emergency aid will continue, but now with the adoption of stricter criteria following difficulties and frauds during the registration of citizens to receive the benefit in the initial phase.

Explaining The New Criteria For The Emergency Aid Benefit

In a statement, labor and business law specialist attorney Thaluana Alves spoke more about the new criteria that will be adopted to qualify for the benefit:

“With the occurrence of several problems and illegalities, now the data will be analyzed more precisely and there will be a cross-checking of 11 databases such as, for example, CAGED, INSS, MEI, CNIS, and Income Tax. (…) The President of the Republic confirmed new payments of the emergency aid and they are expected to happen starting in March. However, the government implemented a more stringent model that will cross-check the data of various Brazilians to reduce the number of people who will be entitled to emergency aid,” highlighted the attorney.

The Attorney Also Said That, Besides The Emergency Aid, Some Other Programs From The Federal Economic Area Will Be Implemented

“The ideal would be the continuation of these measures until the economy affected by the pandemic is restored; however, the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, has not yet informed how this year will be, considering that the budget is awaiting a vote in Congress,” she stated.
