Beyond The New Mega Pulp Factory, The Company Brought Several Enterprises To The City Making It A True Construction Site And Generating Hundreds Of Jobs
As soon as you arrive in the city of Ribas do Rio Pardo, everyone notices the profound change that the mega project of the pulp factory from Suzano has brought to the town, which has just over 20,000 inhabitants. These changes range from the heavy truck traffic on BR-262 highway, new properties being built, hotels and numerous accommodations lining the road, to crowded shops, various job openings created, and a huge influx of people who are now part of the small town’s routine.
This “boom” in the city arose with the Cerrado Project, announced in May 2021 and confirmed by Suzano’s Board of Directors in early November of that same year. The project will receive a total investment of R$ 19.3 billion and, at the peak of construction in April 2023, is expected to generate around 10,000 direct jobs. Today, 6,000 workers are employed on the construction site.
With operations expected to start in the second half of 2024, the new factory (which will be Suzano’s most competitive unit) will produce 2.55 million tons of eucalyptus pulp per year, providing job opportunities for more than 3,000 people, including direct and third-party employees, in forestry and industrial areas, and mobilizing the entire economic chain of the region.

Pulp Factory Construction
The construction works for Suzano’s new pulp factory are on schedule with significant advances so far, with the main highlight being the assembly of precast components for electric rooms and process areas.
In addition, the progress of the sectioning substation and the 138 kV electric system transmission line being constructed at the site is noteworthy.
Suzano is also conducting monitoring of the flora in the vicinity of the construction site and has delivered a new vehicle to the Civil Police in Ribas do Rio Pardo as part of the company’s Basic Environmental Plan (PBA).
Grandiosity of the Enterprise
According to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Economic Development, Production and Family Agriculture (Semagro) Jaime Verruck, and the Superintendent of Industry and Commerce, Bruno Bastos, who visited the site last week, they were amazed by the progress of the construction and the grandeur of the enterprise.
“This will be the largest company in the world in a single technological line of pulp. We see that the construction is extremely advanced and the expectation is that by December 2024 we will be able to inaugurate this enterprise that has generated many jobs in Mato Grosso do Sul,” Verruck highlighted.
According to him, the factory will promote the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), in addition to creating opportunities for entrepreneurs in Mato Grosso do Sul and many jobs for people to work.
