The Company Ocyan Signed a Significant Contract to Revitalize Petrobras’ Gas Network, Marking Its Expansion in the Campos Basin.
Ocyan has entered into an agreement to renew Petrobras’ gas network located in the Campos Basin. This move signals the company’s increasing involvement in offshore EPCI ventures, covering areas such as engineering, production, procurement, and installation of devices. This project marks Ocyan’s resurgence in EPCI-type Submarine Construction contracts andcame shortly after the company received recognition for achieving carbon neutrality in some of its operations.
This partnership with Petrobras, which is a step forward in modernizing the gas network,
is an important debut for the company to lead a venture of this magnitude, collaborating equally with the renowned Mota-Engil from Portugal, which has significant global presence, mainly in Europe and Africa. The contract is expected to last for about four years. The offshore operations will take place near the Namorado and Garoupa platforms, involving the assembly of various underwater devices and flexible pipelines.
Challenges and Opportunities: Ocyan and the Infrastructure of the Campos Basin.
The Campos Basin currently channels its gas production through four routes that intercept the Namorado and Garoupa platforms, then directing it to the mainland via three gas pipelines. With the future deactivation of these platforms, Petrobras’ gas will need to divert from these structures, installing two subsea manifolds and connecting them to the already existing subsea system.

Rafael Guigon, Ocyan’s Submarine Construction Director, details: “The EPCI agreement will strengthen our subsea sector as it encompasses various areas of expertise, providing us with the ability to tackle greater challenges ahead.” The initial phase of the project, focused on engineering, will begin soon, and offshore operations are expected to start in 2025. The renewal project in the Campos Basin will create job opportunities for professionals from various fields.
