Joint Venture Between Orizon and Compass for a Sustainable Energy Transition with Biomethane
The Orizon Group, one of the leading biogas producers in the country, announced a strategic partnership with Compass for the production of biomethane, marking an important step towards the expansion of renewable energy generation in Brazil.
The new joint venture between the Orizon Group and Compass focuses on the purification of biogas generated at the Ecopark in Paulínia, in São Paulo, transforming it into biomethane, a highly valued renewable fuel for its environmental credentials. According to PetroNotícias, this biomethane project is the largest in Brazil, significantly contributing to the country’s energy transition.
Significant Investments for a Sustainable Future
Compass is investing up to R$ 355 million in this endeavor, acquiring 51% of the joint venture. Of this amount, R$ 235 million will be invested initially, with R$ 100 million allocated for the creation of the joint venture and R$ 135 million in a secondary phase for the Orizon Group. Additionally, there is an extra investment of R$ 120 million contingent on delivering a larger volume of biogas. The agreement establishes a biogas sales contract valid for 20 years.
