Paracel Hires Skoda for Supply After a Global Acquisition and Negotiation Process
The manufacturer Doosan Skoda was hired by Paracel after a global acquisition and negotiation process for the supply of turbo generators for the new plant, which will have a production capacity of 1.8 million tons of cellulose per year. With over 185,000 hectares of its own forest assets, Paracel has already planted more than 16,000 hectares of forests, completed the project for the new plant, and also obtained the construction license for the factory.
In addition, the company has also completed all socio-environmental impact assessments, including documentation for CO2 sequestration and the establishment of action plans for the native forest conservation project and social programs, having also monitored significant works at the site of the new factory. Doosan Skoda will supply two steam turbines and plant generators that together will be responsible for generating 220 MW of renewable energy.

It is important to highlight that half of the energy generated will be used in the operation of the plant, and the other half in excess will be delivered to the ANDE grid. Paracel’s CEO, Nils Grafström, stated that the choice of this supplier represents an important starting point for the new plant project: “Now, we will have a very busy time ahead for selecting all the suppliers necessary for the project,” declared Nils.
Discover a Little More About the Company and How It Operates
In this sense, Paracel is a Paraguayan company on the verge of becoming a world-class industry, producing eucalyptus cellulose with its own forest plantations in the Concepción region of Paraguay, using the best technology solutions available, and adhering to the highest standards of sustainability and originality.
The new industrial plant will produce 220 MW of green energy from forest biomass, a non-fossil fuel that will sustain the plant’s energy consumption and much more.
The company’s focus is on building and operating a state-of-the-art Bleached Kraft Cellulose Plant, the new factory that will feature equipment from Skoda, sourced from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wood from its own sustainable plantations and the market. Its designed capacity is 1.8 million tons per year. Paracel is committed to managing and developing its business within the highest global standards of environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
Still regarding the new project, according to Luciano Lafuente, Project Director of Paracel, Skoda symbolizes the proven cutting-edge technology and first-class quality required by the industrial plant. “The engineering work and commercial negotiations that led to this decision were very demanding, and we are very pleased to announce this great step,” he stated. Paracel is focused on building a plant that meets all expectations and trusts Skoda’s equipment to make it happen.
