Sindipetro’s Report on Covid Outbreak in Platform
“To carry out the platform’s scheduled shutdown, a ‘Flotel’ ship is anchored next to the P-58 so that a series of services, such as painting and replacing lines and equipment, can be conducted. Thus, the onboard population of the Platform (PAP) can increase from 120 to 130 people to up to 500 workers. In the midst of a Covid-19 outbreak, conducting this shutdown with so many confined workers could lead to a tragedy,” the Union states.
Cases of coronavirus contamination are also being investigated on the P-57 platform and at the Petrobras onshore unit in Espírito Santo.

Petrobras Responds About Covid Cases During Maintenance Shutdown
Petrobras stated that the information regarding the Covid-19 outbreak on the P-58 platform is inaccurate. The company noted that it decided to postpone maintenance to avoid this situation, aiming to reduce the workload on teams at this time when the country is exacerbating the Covid-19 pandemic, thereby reinforcing distance and hygiene measures in Espírito Santo.
Petrobras reported implementing robust procedures across all its units since the onset of the pandemic. “For units with confinement, such as platforms, procedures involve health monitoring starting 14 days before boarding, when all employees are monitored by health teams and advised to stay home and report any symptoms. Before boarding, RT-PCR tests are administered to employees,” it highlighted.
