The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) approved the commercial operation of four wind turbines of 3.4 MW from the wind farm Ventos de Vila Paraíba II, in the municipality of Serra do Mel, located in Rio Grande do Norte, totaling approximately 13.8 MW of installed capacity.
Aneel carries out various activities to ensure that the electric sector develops with balance and for the benefit of society. The agency creates the rules for generation, transmission, distribution, and commercialization of energy, as well as promotes auctions and authorizes energy enterprises and services in the country.
In addition to the authorization for the operation of the new wind turbines in Serra do Mel, RN, Aneel also released two generating units of 4.2 MW for testing, totaling 8.4 MW of power, for the operation of the wind farm Vila Piauí III, also located in the same city.

Canadian engineers want to compress air in underground caverns and build plants of up to 500 MW that function as giant lungs to store renewable energy for hours and stabilize entire electrical grids.
It is not new that the Brazilian Northeast has been receiving wind energy and other renewable projects. Companies such as Casa dos Ventos Energias Renováveis, Neoenergia, Ômega, the French multinational Voltalia and many other companies have shown interest in investing heavily in the region, which demonstrates potential for alternative energy sources in Brazil.
Neoenergia Receives Boost for Construction of Wind Energy Complex in the Brazilian Northeast
Iberdrola, through its Brazilian subsidiary Neoenergia, received a boost in the development of its mega wind energy complex in Oitis, in the Northeast of Brazil, which has already characterized itself as one of the main regions for renewable source projects in the country.
The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) approved, under the Special Regime for Infrastructure Development (Reidi), a project of six wind farms totaling 297 MW and R$ 1.6 billion in investments exempt from PIS/PASEP and Confins charges. The information was published in the Official Federal Gazette (DOU) and on the MME portal. Read the full article by clicking this link here.
