Maintenance Will Be Carried Out on Large Machines at Petrobras Refineries and Will Occur During Planned Downtime of Process Units
Petrobras has just introduced a new bidding process in the market, which has caught the attention of service provider companies. This is a notice for hiring maintenance on large machines located in five refineries of the company, established in the Southeast region. The hiring processes will have national reach, and the opening of the envelopes with service proposals is initially scheduled for June 23 of this year. The refineries in question are: Henrique Lage (Revap), Paulínia (Replan), Capuava (Recap) and Presidente Bernardes (RPBC) in the state of São Paulo, in addition to Duque de Caxias (Reduc) in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
The equipment maintenance will be carried out during scheduled and planned downtime of process units in each of the five refineries of the state-owned company in the Southeast region. The range of work includes activities involving equipment such as centrifugal compressors, generators, steam turbines, air blowers, electric motors, turbo-generators, turbo-expanders, reducers and/or speed multipliers.
Maintenance Activities Are Expected to Begin Later This Year, But Will Take Place on a Larger Scale Next Year
According to the notice published, the schedule for maintenance activities will begin with the planned downtime of the hydrocracking unit at Revap, later this year. It is scheduled to start on November 7, while the end is expected to be on the 26th of the same month. Still in 2022, Petrobras – which recently signed an agreement with Saipem and Shell – will also carry out maintenance on the cracking, coking and hydrocracking units at RPBC, between November and early January next year. At Replan, in turn, a downtime in the cracking unit is expected later in November.

Petrobras’s calendar continues with several other planned downtimes at the company’s refineries in the Southeast region between the years 2023 and 2026. The expectation is that the largest volume of work will occur next year. The notice and all documents related to the bid (n° 7003853370) are available on the Petronect website – the company responsible for Petrobras’s electronic commerce.
While Refineries in the Southeast Receive Billion-Dollar Investments, Other Refining Parks of the Company Are Sold
According to Petrobras, the capital allocated for its refining park during the next five years will be equivalent to the amount of US$ 6.1 billion. The company states that the investments will be directed towards increasing its refining capacity, generating higher quality products, and positioning its refineries among the best in the world in terms of efficiency and operational performance. Of the total investment, approximately US$ 1.5 billion will be allocated to the Reduc refinery with the GasLub Itaboraí Hub (formerly the Petrochemical Complex), aiming to produce derivatives and base oils, in order to take advantage of market demand for lubricants.
At the same time that investments are made in the Southeast refineries, Petrobras has just advanced in another divestment in its refining park. The state-owned company recently signed the sale of the Lubrificantes e Derivados de Petróleo do Nordeste (LUBNOR) refinery to Grepar Participações, for a total transaction value of US$ 34 million. So far, in addition to LUBNOR, Petrobras has also sold three of its other refineries, namely: Landulpho Alves (RLAM), Unidade de Industrialização do Xisto (SIX) and Isaac Sabbá (Reman).
