Petrobras Advances With A New Oil Well In The Pre-Salt Of The Campos Basin.
Petrobras has initiated drilling of well 4-BRSA-1402-RJS this week, located in the Alto de Cabo Frio Central block in the Campos Basin. The activity, conducted with the drillship West Polaris, takes place at a water depth of 2,524 meters. The aim is to increase knowledge of the area where indications of oil have already been found in previous operations.
Strategic Operations In The Pre-Salt
This is the second new well drilled by Petrobras in the same block in 2024. The first, 3-BRSA-1398-RJS, revealed promising signs of oil in June. The presence of productive carbonate reservoirs reinforces the strategic potential of the region.
History Of The Alto De Cabo Frio Central Area
Acquired in 2017 during the 3rd ANP Bidding Round, the area is operated by Petrobras, which holds a 50% stake in a consortium with bp. In 2022, the state-owned company had already confirmed good productivity in the pioneering well of the block.
