The Brazilian Oil Giant Sells 100% of Its Shareholding in Petrobras Operaciones S.A. (POSA), in Argentina – Owner of 33.6% in the Rio Neuquén Field.
To increasingly concentrate its assets in oil fields and deep and ultra-deep waters in the pre-salt, Petrobras informed the market on this day (10/14) that it has started the opportunity disclosure stage (teaser) regarding the sale of 100% of its shareholding in Petrobras Operaciones S.A. (POSA), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Petrobras in Argentina and holder of a 33.6% stake in the Rio Neuquén Field.
According to the state-owned company’s announcement, the teaser, which contains the main information about the opportunity, as well as the eligibility criteria for selecting potential participants, is available on Petrobras’ website.

POSA is a company incorporated in Argentina and has as its only asset the Rio Neuquén field. Petrobras owns its stake in POSA through its subsidiaries PIB BV (Petrobras International Braspetro B.V.), with 95%, and PVIE (Petrobras Valores Internacionales de España), with 5%.

Together with POSA, equity partners in the Rio Neuquén asset also include YPF S.A (YPF), the field operator, with a 33.3% stake, and Pampa Energia (Pampa), with 33.1%. The production from Rio Neuquén is mainly derived from unconventional reservoirs (tight gas) from the Punta Rosada and Lajas formations.
In September 2022, POSA’s production was 1.52 MM m³/d of natural gas and 0.7 thousand bpd of oil, condensate, and gasoline.

Good news for Brazil’s shipbuilding industry, Jurong Shipyard wins a contract for the construction of the P-82, the tenth FPSO from the Brazilian oil giant Petrobras, which will operate in Búzios – the world’s largest deepwater oil field! The platform ship’s works are expected to create around 6,000 job openings in the 2023-2026 triad. It is worth noting that the company from Espírito Santo is a subsidiary of the Asian group Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters from Singapore.
With construction scheduled for next year, the P-82 will be the tenth platform to be installed in Búzios and the 29th unit to come into production in the pre-salt, being classified by Petrobras as one of the most modern in the world.
Furthermore, the unit will be one of the largest operating in the global oil and gas industry, with a capacity to produce up to 225,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd), processing up to 12 million m³ of gas/day – in addition to storing more than 1.6 million barrels.
