The Petrobras Unit Has Been Halted Since April, When Workers on the Platform Were Infected with the Coronavirus and the FPSO Had to Undergo Disinfection
The FPSO Capixaba of Petrobras has been out of operation since April and will return to operation in the third quarter of this year, according to the state-owned company. The unit suffered a significant outbreak of coronavirus among its workers and, therefore, was halted to undergo a disinfection process.

Out of operation, Petrobras stopped producing 35,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the second quarter of this year. The state-owned company was able to negotiate with SBM, the owner of the vessel, a temporary suspension of the platform’s contract, which will resume when the unit restarts production.
Additionally, the contract suspension period for the unit is being utilized by SBM for the execution of works on the platform, aiming at increasing operational efficiency. The unit produces in the Whale Park and is chartered by Petrobras until April 2022.
