The auction held by the National Agency of Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) on the morning of Wednesday, 13, resulted in the acquisition of two blocks in the SP-AUP8 sector for a total of R$ 4.34 million, without a premium, during the 4th Cycle Of The Permanent Offer In The Concession Regime. The consortium formed by Petrobras (PETR4; 50%), Shell Brasil (30%), and CNOCC Petroleum (20%) was the winner of block P-M-1797, acquiring it for R$ 2.17 million.
This auction represents an important step for the oil and gas sector, demonstrating companies’ interest in investing in the Brazilian market. The acquisition of blocks P-M-1797 and P-M-1799 reinforces the relevance of the auction promoted by ANP, mobilizing millions of reais in investments in the sector. So far, blocks in ten sectors of the Pelotas Basin have been auctioned, of which six received no bids. The accumulated bonus in the round so far exceeds R$ 246.477 million.
Pelotas Basin Auction: A Unique Opportunity
A total of 198 blocks from the Pelotas Basin are being offered in this auction.
The permanent offering functions as an area bank for oil and natural gas that are auctioned in cycles based on the demand from interested parties, replacing traditional public auctions held by ANP since 1999, where the blocks offered were designated by the government.
Specifically in the concession regime within the Permanent Offering, 104 companies are eligible to participate, but only 25 of them submitted expressions of interest and guarantees of bids for the 39 sectors at stake this Wednesday, which encompass a total of 722 blocks.
