Investment of Nearly R$ 100 Million Transforms Agricultural Infrastructure in Piauí, Optimizing Production Flow and Benefiting the Local Economy
The paving works on PI-392, known as the Soy Highway, are nearing completion, representing a milestone for the flow of agricultural production in southern Piauí. With an investment exceeding R$ 93 million, the project was executed by the Piauí Department of Highways (DER), ensuring a stretch of 53 km of paved road from the headquarters of Bunge Alimentos to Fazenda Brejo Seco.
Importance of the Soy Highway
The Soy Highway is considered one of the main transportation corridors for the Piauí agribusiness, directly benefiting producers and boosting the local economy. The director-general of DER, Leonardo Sobral, explained that the project is part of the Soy Ring Road Action Plan, which aims to improve logistics and facilitate the transportation of harvests.
“This project is part of the Soy Ring Road Action Plan. The stretch covered goes from the city of Baixa Grande do Ribeiro, passing through Bunge Serra Grande, Fazenda Insolo (Ipê), to Fazenda Brejo Seco. Therefore, the project will benefit farms involved in different agricultural production cultures,” said Sobral.

Investment and Benefits
The execution of the project was carried out according to the established schedule, highlighting the government’s responsibility to maintain deadlines and the quality of the infrastructure.
The R$ 93 million invested is proof of the commitment to the road development of Piauí, ensuring that producers have access to higher quality and safer transportation routes for their products.
Final Stage and Delivery
Currently, the highway is undergoing the signaling phase, an important step to ensure driver safety and facilitate navigation. The project’s delivery is expected to happen soon and will be attended by Governor Rafael Fonteles, who has highlighted the positive impact of the project on the state.
Sobral emphasized that the soy ring road not only optimizes transportation infrastructure but also promotes the economic growth of the entire region. However, the absence of accents in certain words can still be observed on some local signs, something that should be adjusted before the official inauguration.
Development and Future
The strengthening of road infrastructure in Piauí reflects a planning that goes beyond current works, aiming for the region’s future and the state’s competitiveness in agribusiness. This PI-392 project is a central piece of a broader plan, which includes new investments in other crucial stretches for the flow of harvests and regional development.
