University Students Create The Fastest Electric Car In The World, Setting Speed Records By Accelerating From 0 To 100 Km/h In Less Than A Second – Faster Than The Time Of A Blink!
LESS THAN A blink of an eye, that is the time it takes for the fastest electric car in the world, a prototype called Mythen, to reach 100 KM/H. It was created by an academic group from the ETH Zurich and the University of Lucerne (Switzerland) to go from 0 to 100 km/h. The test was carried out earlier this month at the Swiss circuit in Dübendorf, where the electric bolide clocked a time of 0 to 100 km/h in just 0.956 milliseconds to achieve the feat.
Fastest Electric Car In The World Has 326 Horsepower
The group of students, members of the Academic Motorsports Club Zurich (AMZ), worked on the project throughout the past year. This achievement even broke the record held by the University of Stuttgart (Germany), which clocked 1.461 seconds in September 2022.
For this to be possible, the fastest electric car in the world, derived from a prototype used by AMZ in the 2019 season of Formula Student, carries four electric motors. One is placed on each wheel, reaching a total power of 240 kW, equivalent to 326 horsepower.

It costs R$ 80,000 today, but was once worth R$ 900,000: the “rich man’s cast-off car” attracts with its luxury, but conceals high-standard maintenance that can turn into a loss.

When it seemed that combustion was doomed, industry giants came together and created a gasoline engine that promises to achieve more than 3 liters per 100 km and rekindles the hope of those who want to drive further while spending much less fuel.

BYD unveils new luxury electric SUV with 644 hp, 900 km range, and record-breaking charging
Weighing only 140 kg, the fastest electric car in the world features a structure made from carbon fiber and aluminum. Thus, it has a weight/power ratio of less than 500 grams per horsepower. The students developed the car entirely. This initially includes the chassis, drive system, battery, and control units, for example.
Youtuber Tests The Fastest Electric Car In The World
Youtuber Tom Scott, who has over 6 million subscribers, took a spin in the fastest electric car in the world, providing everyone with a perspective on what it’s like to accelerate at such tremendous speed. He was unable to break the previously set record due to his weight. However, if the time is a few hundredths of a second slower, it hardly makes much difference.
The time recorded during his attempt was 1.4 seconds; still, it is much faster than any Tesla, Ferrari, or Bugatti car. During the record-setting run, the driver of the fastest electric car in the world was a driver named Chiara Lenz.
At that moment, she was subjected to a brutal acceleration of no less than 3.8 G. The only place in the world that makes someone experience the same is a roller coaster in Japan that has supposedly been closed for breaking the bones of several people, given how extreme it is.
From 0 To 100Km/h In Just 12 Meters
The prototype, which is similar in size to a Kart, does not have spoilers, for instance. According to data, the car’s floor is responsible for anchoring the Mythum to the asphalt, utilizing suction fans. In this way, it improves the center of gravity.
It took 12.3 meters to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h and thus make it into the Record Book (Guinness Book). This is, initially, the third time the AMZ team has achieved the acceleration record for an electric vehicle. The previous times occurred in 2014 and 2016.
If on one hand there is the prototype of the fastest electric car in the world going from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 1 second, production models are not too far behind. To give an idea, there are already cars that exceed 500 km/h. This list, however, is always subject to changes, as some manufacturers take this competition seriously to see who is more powerful.
