The expectation is huge, but did you know that one of the largest works in Paraná is about to change the reality of the region? Located on the State Coast, the Guaratuba Bridge is one of the most anticipated projects by the people of Paraná.

With an investment of nearly R$ 400 million, this project promises not only to revolutionize local infrastructure but also to generate thousands of jobs and boost the region’s economy.

And the best part: progress can be tracked in real-time. Want to know more? Keep reading.

The Progress of the Work: 27% Completed with Projected Completion in 2026

The construction of the Guaratuba Bridge is going full steam ahead. According to the October 2024 report published this Wednesday (06), the project has reached the mark of 27.1% completion, which represents more than a quarter of the work completed.

In six months of intense work, the project has followed the schedule rigorously.

The focus has been on infrastructure, highlighting the piles of the stayed and pre-cast sections, and the manufacturing of the longitudinal beams that will support the bridge.

Execution Details: How the Bridge is Being Built

So far, 24 piles have been completed, with 14 on the stayed section and 10 on the pre-cast section.

In total, the project foresees the construction of 64 piles, with 40 piles in the pre-cast section and 24 in the stayed section.

Additionally, 37 longitudinal beams have already been manufactured, aiming to reach a total of 160 by the end of the work.

The transverse beams have also begun to be assembled, with four already completed and 22 planned to compose the complete structure of the bridge.

The engineer from the Department of Highways of Paraná (DER/PR), Larissa Vieira, stated that the progress of the work is within what was planned.

“The progress has been visible, with quality, safety, and efficiency. Our goal is to deliver a work that will become a landmark for the Paraná coast”, highlighted the engineer.

Economic and Employment Impact in Paraná

The Guaratuba Bridge project has already generated a significant impact on the local economy.

So far, more than 415 workers are directly involved in the construction, and by the end of 2024, this number is expected to reach 600 people.

The expectation is that the completion of the bridge, projected for April 2026, will bring significant benefits for tourism and the economy of the Paraná coast.

Moreover, the project is being executed by a multidisciplinary team composed of engineers, biologists, sailors, oceanographers, masons, welders, among other professionals, who work tirelessly to ensure that the project becomes a reality.

Million-Dollar Investments and Real-Time Monitoring

The Government of Paraná, through DER/PR, is investing R$ 386.9 million in the construction of the Guaratuba Bridge.

To ensure transparency and monitoring of the work, activities can be tracked in real time, through monitoring cameras available on the official project website (https://www.pontedeguaratuba.pr.gov.br/).

According to the latest figures, the investment in October was R$ 104,699,377.72.

The Bridge will be 1,244 meters long, with four traffic lanes, two safety lanes, sidewalks with a bike lane, and a protection system with rigid concrete barriers and guardrails at the ends.

A Project Expected for Decades: The Timeline of the Guaratuba Bridge

The construction of the bridge officially started on April 30, 2024, with the issuance of the Installation License by the Department of Infrastructure and Logistics of the State.

Over the months, several milestones have already been achieved, such as the 1st concreting of piles in the pre-cast section (May), the installation of the crane at the construction site (July), and the 1st transverse beam completed (September).

Check out some important milestones of the work:
