Monumental Guaratuba Bridge Reaches Almost 40% Completion and Promises to Transform Paraná’s Coast! With a Million-Dollar Investment, the Project Will Bring Mobility, Tourism, and Jobs. Want to Know How to Follow the Construction in Real Time? Discover All the Details of This Mega Construction That Will Change the Connection Between Guaratuba and Matinhos!
In the heart of Paraná’s coastline, a monumental project begins to transform the landscape and promises to revolutionize the connection between important municipalities in the region.
The grandeur of the construction and the expected impact on the local economy have sparked curiosity among residents and visitors. But what is behind this rapidly advancing project?
The Guaratuba Bridge, designed to connect the cities of Guaratuba and Matinhos, has reached 38.8% completion as of January 2025, according to the monthly construction report. This milestone highlights the completion of the concreting of the main pylon blocks in the cable-stayed section.

Currently, the teams are focusing on the substructure, which involves the construction of pillars 12.6 meters high. After this stage, the superstructure will begin, consisting of beams and slabs that will support vehicle traffic.
Significant Advances in Construction
The Nova Ponte Consortium has installed a fixed crane at one of the main supports of the bridge to assist in executing the cable-stayed section.
Positioned on the crown block, the crane functions like a hoist, facilitating the transportation of materials for the construction of the central section and deck of the bridge. According to Larissa Vieira, an engineer from the Paraná Department of Highways (DER/PR) and project supervisor, the pace remains intense and within the scheduled timelines.
“We started 2025 with the same commitment to quality, efficiency, and safety throughout all stages of the Guaratuba Bridge construction. Our goal is to meet the execution schedule to deliver the project in 2026”, she emphasizes.
The Bridge Structure Takes Shape
In January, the layout of the bridge became more visible.
The activities focused on executing the piles of the pre-cast section, including driving, excavation, and concreting, in addition to the manufacturing and launching of pre-cast girder beams and executing the crossbeams.
So far, 36 piles have been completed, with 16 in the cable-stayed section and 20 in the pre-cast section, out of a total of 64 planned.
Additionally, seven crossbeams have been finalized, and the production of pre-cast girder beams has reached 55 structures produced.
Economic and Social Impact
The Guaratuba Bridge, with a length of 1,244 meters, will have four traffic lanes, two safety lanes, rigid concrete barriers, sidewalks with bike lanes, and guardrails at the ends.
The total investment amounts to R$ 386.9 million, with R$ 150 million already spent by January 2025, representing 38.8% of the physical-financial schedule.
The project, under the responsibility of DER/PR, an agency of the Secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics (SEIL), promises not only to improve mobility in the region but also to boost the local economy, generating jobs and promoting tourism.

Future Perspectives
With completion expected in 2026, the Guaratuba Bridge emerges as a definitive solution for crossing between Guaratuba and Matinhos, replacing the current ferry system.
The expectation is that the next season will be the last with ferry operations, as stated by the state secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics, Sandro Alex. “We are one step ahead of the schedule and will deliver the project in April 2026”, he stressed.
Challenges and Technical Solutions
The construction of a bridge of this magnitude involves various technical and logistical challenges.
The installation of the fixed crane, for instance, was a solution found to optimize the transportation of materials and ensure safety during the execution of the cable-stayed section.
Additionally, the nailed soil technique is being used for containment on the Caieiras Hill in Guaratuba, ensuring the stability of the terrain and the security of the structure.

Benefits for the Local Community
The new bridge will not only facilitate movement between the cities but will also bring direct benefits to the local community.
The improvement in road infrastructure is expected to attract new investments, boost commerce, and increase property values in the region.
Moreover, the inclusion of bike lanes and sidewalks in the bridge’s structure promotes sustainable mobility, encouraging bicycle use and walking.
Commitment to the Environment
Throughout all stages of the project, there is a commitment to environmental preservation. The project includes impact mitigation measures, such as monitoring local fauna and flora, to ensure that construction occurs sustainably.
The use of advanced construction techniques also helps to minimize the effects on the regional ecosystem.
Community Participation
Transparency in the project’s progress is a priority. In addition to monitoring cameras, the public can access monthly reports detailing the progress and completed stages.
This initiative aims to keep citizens informed and engaged in the project, reinforcing the importance of the bridge for regional development.
According to experts, the construction of the Guaratuba Bridge is advancing significantly, representing a milestone in Paraná’s infrastructure.
With robust investments and careful planning, the project promises to transform the dynamics of mobility along Paraná’s coast, bringing economic, social, and environmental benefits to the entire region. Click to See the Project in Real Time!
