Used Automotive Market Highlights A Hatchback From Peugeot For Less Than R$ 40 Thousand. Know Which ‘Cheap’ Car From Peugeot Is Attracting Brazilians With Great Numbers And Equipment.

The Peugeot 308, a compact hatchback from the French brand, has historically been undervalued in the Brazilian automotive market, but it has recently gained prominence among used vehicles. Launched over a decade ago, the 308 offers a surprising combination of safety, comfort, and technology, all at an affordable price, often below R$ 40 thousand. If you are looking for a complete car with excellent cost-benefit, it is worth considering the Peugeot 308. In this article, we explore whether this model is still a good choice in 2024 and what it has to offer in the used market.

Peugeot Hatch Delivers 151 Horsepower

The ‘cheap’ car from Peugeot was sold in the Brazilian automotive market by PSA in Brazil between 2012 and 2019, having been manufactured in Argentina. The model was sold in the Brazilian market with three engines, with the 1.6 16V of up to 122 horsepower offered in the cheaper versions, such as the Active, for example, always with a manual transmission.

The version of the Hatch from Peugeot that we will cover in this article is the Peugeot 308 Allure 2.0. This, which was a new version launched in the automotive market in 2013, brings changes to the mechanical and suspension systems. The model received a six-speed sequential automatic transmission and was equipped with a 2.0 engine producing 151 hp.

Before 2013, the transmission was only available with the 1.6 THP engine. To optimize the operation of the AT6 transmission with the engine, new air intake and exhaust lines were developed, as well as specific calibration for the engine, prioritizing comfort in the Drive function and providing a more dynamic driving experience in “Sport” mode.

The implementation of the AT6 transmission combined with the 2.0L 16V VVT Flex engine of 151 hp and a maximum torque of 22 kgfm resulted in performance gains, with main highlights in acceleration and response times, and a reduction in fuel consumption.

‘Cheap’ Peugeot Car Delivers Great Fuel Economy

In 0 to 100 km/h accelerations, compared to the four-speed transmission, there was an improvement of 0.8 seconds, with the Peugeot hatch achieving this in just 9.7 seconds, as the AT6 transmission features shorter ratios in 1st and 2nd gears. The same improvement was noted in response times, especially from 80 km/h to 120 km/h, where the time was reduced by 0.5 seconds.

For less than R$ 40 thousand, this is the ‘cheap’ car from Peugeot that outperforms current models in the automotive market and stands out with a fuel economy of 10.7 km/l/Disclosure

In dimensions, the ‘cheap’ Peugeot car measures 4276 mm in length, 1815 mm in width, 1498 mm in height, and 2608 mm in wheelbase. Weighing 1328 kg, the model has great numbers and can achieve 6.5 km/l with ethanol and 8.5 km/l with gasoline in urban environments and 9.6 km/l and 12.5 km/l, respectively in highway conditions. Its maximum speed is 206 km/h.

The equipment list is quite complete for its time and includes ABS brakes, three-point seat belts for all occupants, air conditioning, adjustable steering wheel for height and depth, alloy wheels, glove compartment light, radio, multifunction steering wheel, USB connection, CD player, and much more.

What To Notice When Buying The Peugeot Hatch?

Despite presenting several advantages in the used automotive market, the ‘cheap’ car from Peugeot, like any vehicle, has experienced defects and chronic problems.

If you are interested in the THP version, the model faced problems with the timing chain kit, even having been replaced at very low mileage and within warranty coverage.

Other reports about the Peugeot hatch mention lack of power and high fuel consumption, with the causes of these two symptoms of poor performance linked to the temperature sensor. Therefore, it is important to be attentive to these details when buying your used vehicle.

Eu não estou lendo isso, carro da Peugeot sendo elogiado? Pelo histórico é o pior carro que existe no Brasil, só tem boniteza, não vale nada.
