Police Seizes About 400kg of Cocaine at the Port of Itaguaí
In early February, about 400 kilograms of cocaine were seized in a container at the port of Itaguaí, Rio de Janeiro. The seizure was part of a joint operation by the Anti-Drug Police Station (DRE) of the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, the Federal Police, and auditors from the Federal Revenue Service.
According to the investigation, this batch of drugs weighing 387 kilograms was to be sandwiched in a coffee truck and sent to Spain. Due to the nature of international drug trafficking, the material was forwarded to the Federal Police at Praça Mauá. The investigation continues to identify the owner of the cargo and who was hired to transport the drug abroad.
