The company is one of the country’s main processors of soybeans, corn, sunflower, and canola, having already operated at the port since 2014, but under renewably 6-month concessions. Projects And New Investments At The Port Of Santana

With the victory in the auction, the company will be able to operate for 25 years in the area of the Port of Santana in the state of Amapá, with an initial investment of R$ 43 million and a forecast to generate 600 direct and indirect jobs. The location is considered strategic for the company’s investments aimed at the flow of grain production harvested in the Midwest.

Antônio Balan, Logistics and Ports Director of the Caramuru Group, says, “We have a factory in Sorriso-MT. So, when you look at the southern ports and the northern ports, there is very great attractiveness that caught our company’s attention.”

Expansion Of The Company’s Projects At The Port

The area is designated for the movement of solid bulk vegetable products, especially soybean meal. One of the advantages of the Port of Santana is the reduction of travel time to Europe compared to other ports, by at least 3 days. “This port will receive all the cargo coming from Sorriso, all the barges, from the origin of the Port of Itaituba in Pará, and we transport it to the port of Bach in Germany,” added Balan.

Among the investments planned for the port terminal is the expansion of the shiploader structure, the equipment responsible for transporting cargo from the ground to the ship. The new equipment plans to double the ship supply capacity. The mayor of Santana, Bala Rocha, says the expectation is that the municipality, and especially the port, will develop more rapidly and bring benefits, such as job and income generation. Modernizing port equipment will allow greater speed in loading the ships, he concluded.

The Auction Of The Port Terminal Of Santana

In August, an auction took place at B3, the São Paulo Stock Exchange, for an area of 3,816 square meters within the Port Area of Santana, the main cargo handling port in Amapá. The auction is conducted by the Federal Government, through the National Agency of Waterway Transportation (Antaq). The initial bid of the auction was R$ 5.5 million, and both national and foreign companies can participate in consortia or individually. In a statement, Antaq confirmed that there are qualified proposals for bidding.

The port, which is located on the banks of the Amazon River in Amapá, is managed by the city through the Companhia Docas de Santana (CDSA). Even with the auction, the concession of the port’s administration remains with the public authorities. The area to be auctioned is expected to have the implementation of silos and conveyor belts connected to the Port of Santana. On the site, there are three vertical metal silos with a diameter of 22 meters each, with a static capacity of 7,200 tons (10,066 m³), totaling 21,600 tons.
