“This scenario opened space for BR to invest in cabotage distribution, which brings benefits not only by optimizing logistics but also by increasing the marine diesel supply in the region,” says the company.
BR Distribuidora was already supplying diesel to port vessels via tank trucks. With the expanded supply capacity, they can now serve offshore support vessels, seismic research vessels, dredging vessels, port support vessels, cabotage vessels, long-haul vessels, and other vessels that require diesel for their operations.
The first load was dispatched at the end of 2020. According to BR, the operation has already achieved a significant milestone, with a delivery taking only three hours from the customer’s order to the start of supply.
“The new modal introduced by BR allows for emergency refueling of large volumes in a short time frame with excellent flexibility for date and time adjustments. Currently, the service capacity is up to 1,150 m³ of marine diesel per delivery, with a flow rate of up to 150m³/h,” informs BR Distribuidora.
