Petrobras announced in a relevant fact last night (01/19) that the tanker Eagle Passos, the last of the four new shuttle tankers contracted to increase the company’s offloading capacity, completed its first oil transfer operation, carried out at the Tupi field in the pre-salt in the Santos Basin.

According to the statement, the oil, collected from the P-67 and Cidade de Saquarema platforms, was later offloaded from the Eagle Passos to an export vessel in Angra dos Reis.
The tanker arrived in Brazil on the 9th and became part of the fleet of 21 dynamic positioning (DP) tankers at Petrobras, which carry out about 1,300 offloadings per year.

Like the other three vessels, the Eagle Passos is a dynamic positioning (DP2) vessel – which stabilizes automatically – with transportation and storage capacity of 1 million barrels.
Petrobras states that the first, Eagle Petrolina, began operations in July, followed by Eagle Paulínia in September. The third contracted vessel, Eagle Paraíso, has been operating since early November 2020 mainly in the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin.
Since their arrival, the four tankers have completed over 100 offloadings, totaling about 51 million barrels of oil transferred and predominantly transported to Angra dos Reis and São Sebastião.
In addition to the four units already in operation, Petrobras contracted three more tankers of the same type last year, with delivery expected in 2022. The first of this new series is expected to arrive in Brazil in February 2022.
About The Tankers Contracted By Petrobras
Custom-designed and built in South Korea, the Suezmax-class vessels are equipped with a Dynamic Positioning (DP2) system, high-power thrusters, and dynamic positioning systems. This mechanism allows the vessel to stabilize automatically, ensuring safety and increasing the efficiency of oil offloading operations. The vessels are also equipped with electrically driven cargo pumps to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce costs.
